Live Aid founder Bob Geldof's daughter Peaches died of a heroin overdose, the same cause of death as her mother Paul Yates in 2000, Britain's Times newspaper reported on Thursday.

The model died suddenly on April 7, aged 25, but the autopsy proved inconclusive.

However, Detective Chief Inspector Paul Fotheringham is due to tell a hearing in Gravesend, Kent, later Thursday that toxicology tests showed she had died of a heroin overdose, the paper reported.

Peaches, who wrote for British magazines and newspapers and presented celebrity-driven television shows, was found dead at her countryside home where she was looking after 11-month-old son Phaedra.

But still. Does anyone not get heroin is highly addictive? What in the world gets these folks started and where in the hell are they getting it from. I have not lived a sheltered life by any means but I have only come across someone trying to sell heroin twice in my 48 years.

We passed welfare reform in the 90's and cut back on AFDC and made it harder to get.

But you could still get a Medicaid card and get opiates or benzos and then people started selling them and Adderal to make up the difference when they got cut off welfare.

Then they started cracking down on prescriptions after they had created tens of thousands of junkies, and, at least here then the gangs from Detroit and Columbus started moving large amounts of heroin to fill the void.

In a lot of rural America drugs are the only entertainment. I always noticed that the more rural, the less money, the less things to do the harder the drugs. I guess the same is true with the ghetto but I'm a country person.

Is the gov't involved? Don't know. But it IS interesting that back in the 80's when the US and Israel were in Lebanon we were flooded with cheap Lebanese hash. Then when the US was heavily involved in Central America we had the cocaine and crack epidemic. Now with the middle east and Afghanistan we have the poppies. Maybe just the chaos of war makes it easier to get it out.

One thing is for sure every time they have tried to crack down on pot thru blockade or drug testing or whatever the less bulky more dangerous drugs have got thru.

Before we raided Afghanistan opium production was in decline. The farmers started growing again after we invaded because it was a good cash crop for them. Heroin is cheaper than many other street drugs these days.

Leaving the rig behind would suggest that she died alone by her own hand. By taking the rig, they've called attention to themselves and removed all doubt.

You can smoke it or snort it, it's less effective than injecting but it still works.

She could have done it off the property like an old friend of mine always did or perhaps someone came over and they left with the paraphernalia.

People that do drugs often don't want there to be evidence of it in their home or where ever they're visiting especially those people in the public eye.

I'm not surprised at all that no paraphernalia was found.

Her husband was conveniently somewhere else the night it happened and the police found no evidence to indicate method of ingestion.

Paraphernalia could be anything that suggested evidence of how the overdose quantity of heroin was ingested. A cigarette would have left a filter behind. Snorting might leave residue on a mirror or cd case or inside a straw....

Husband Thomas Cohen, 23, had spent the previous night apart from his wife and was looking after their eldest son, 23-month-old Astala.

He takes the 23-month-old and leaves her with the 11-month-old...while he does what? Why take just one child and not both?

She's left in charge of her 11-month-old son and decides to ingest a lethal quantity of heroin without leaving any clues behind? I'm just not buying it and I'm not buying the husband's alibi.

Call me a cynic.

...but if she had snorted it, there would've been some kind of evidence left behind to indicate that she had just snorted a lethal dose of heroin.

The police indicated that there was no paraphernalia found which suggests that either they don't know or aren't saying how the lethal dose of heroin was ingested.
