FRucking disgusting
An Idaho police officer was caught on video fatally shooting a dog just yards away from the house where a birthday party was being held for the owner's 9-year-old son.
Dashcam video shows Officer Tarek Hassani of the Filer Police Department approaching dogs on the street and shooting Rick Clubb's 7-year-old black Lab.
He didnt have to pull out his .45 and shoot my dog, Clubb told the Times-News, which obtained the video. It was right outside my sons bedroom. What if it had ricocheted through the window?

(1,115 posts)You would have heard the officer'a voice crack when he radios that he shot the dog; it sounds like he is almost in tears. These dogs were aggressive and unrestrained. There are many cases of police abusing their power; this doesn't appear to be one.

(20,453 posts)Anyone can have said voice after a major fuck up. As a policeman, you have a major screw loose when letting it get this far.

(17,320 posts)shot the dog. That's why he talked incessantly and wouldn't allow the owner to say anything.
I watched that tape. Those dogs were not vicious. The cop continued to walk up on them. There were a number of things he could have done better than just shooting the animal.
This continues to happen all over the Country. Cops have got to stop killing people's pets for no reason other than sadistic cowardice.
They want Americans to be afraid of them.
I warned my wife today that in the event we ever need to call the police, lock the dogs in their cages before making the call.
The owner was careless to allow his dogs to run in the street. It wasn't safe for the dogs. He should have known that.
Because of the lease law, that jackass ,sadistic cop will not be punished for his blatant act of cruelty.

(65,227 posts)I just read an article yesterday about a cop shooting a friendly dog who was tied up on a leash and whom he had just been petting a moment earlier, then smirking in satisfaction at the owner. The dog was just 14 months old. Google about it--the dog's name was Arzy.

(6,843 posts)The cop had a job to do. That dog was showing classic territorial aggression. He was impeding the cop's way. He tried to shoo them off and even took a kick at the dog. The dog was doing his job. He was protecting his territory from a stranger.
The owner is a negligent asshole who got his dog shot. He should not be allowed to own another animal for the rest of his life. I HATE irresponsible pet owners. This jackass is one of them.

(17,644 posts)2 seconds in - you hear the cop hit the yellow lab with the door of his car
28 seconds in - you see the cop kick at the black lab
33 seconds in - shot fired - black lab holing in pain as he lay dieing
1:28 seconds in - the cop lied, claiming he shot the dog because it tried to bite him
what fucking part of that was the cops job
Fuck the Police - defund their pensions immediately - I don't want my tax dollars to ensure they have a cushy retirement after a career of this horse shit

(6,843 posts)That was classic territorial aggression. That dog owner is a complete asshole. What if that cop was responding to someone in serious need where every second counts?
Dogs that show aggression do not get to roam free. I have aggressive dogs at home right now. They are NEVER outside of my control.
That was irresponsible dog ownership.

(109 posts)I have a job (Mail carrier sub) that regularly puts me in contact with animals. Luckily most of my routes have "dog warning" cards when needed. Luckily MOST (seriously 99.9% and I work in a rural area, so everyone has dogs) of the dogs are really awesome sweethearts (oh, you should see the ones that, when they see me, go find a ball!). But not going to lie, there have been some really scary situations for me. If those dogs were reacting that way to me I would be pissing my pants and spraying my dog mace. And I have the option of just leaving and taking the mail/parcel back to be delivered or picked up. This cop really doesn't. I'm no "Dog Whisperer", and my 60-lb dog will do nothing but lick you, unless you are play fighting with one of "his" (MINE!) kids or you are a snake (literally)! Even my limited dog training has taught my dog, you best only bark or be aggressive if you really need to be, and I'm an idiot and was able to teach him that. Even when he is the tiniest bit aggressive, it is just a gentle nudge. So when I see dogs like this, well they must have the biggest idiots on the planet as owners. Why were such aggressive dogs allowed to freely roam? I say this as someone who may be walking their own dog with our children. Yes, my kids are my dog's children also. These dogs would scare me.
Seems like to me, it's the owners fault! Don't raise a dog if you aren't willing to put the rest of the public's safety, and your dog's safety as a priority. It's hard work, but freaking worth it. If you can't, or your pup's personality can't manage, well they need to be isolated. I really don't blame the cop. He literally had to kick a dog to keep him away. At that point I am fearing for my safety. Most dogs will bark, letting their owners know I am there (this is my experience as a mail carrier), and they will back away. To have a dog actually come at you, while literally next to the street, is really freaking scary to me. These people should never be allowed to raise a dog again.
Now I can't hear the audio, so there is that. But I can see how aggressive these dogs were.
