I'm not prone to negativity, so no, I don't see it as negative.

I prefer to associate with people for whom "tolerable" isn't as good as it gets.

While we're on the topic of words, if it can be confused with attitude, I wouldn't call it strong.

from women, usually the fundamentalist women in my family, and often sermonettes and Bible verse tags attached. I'm so sick of this stuff. The bottom line is that, as a woman, I have never and do not need a man to "handle" me or treat me with some sort of romanticized Disney princess chivalric deference. I do need men to show me respect and treat me as an equal. Has not a thing to do with strength or weakness. It has a lot to do with being empathetic enough to understand that being a woman is just as much a human experience as being a man and that each of us has integrity and value as complete sentient human beings.

..."a strong man does not feel threatened by a strong woman, while a weak man does", and I'm surprised at the replies from people who seem to misunderstand the post.

Reading that irritates me to no end. If someone is rude or nasty, I'll make a comment, it doesnt make one "weak" and why would anyone have to "handle" another person just because they are strong and what is "strong" anyway?

...UGH!!!!

If you're basing your view of my 'strength' based on whether I get rude with you or not, you're an idiot.

While I don't find these kinds of things offensive, I do find them mealy-mouthed, sycophantic, and a touch demeaning. As if attitude had anything to do with strength. If it did, right-wingers would be the strongest people on the face of the planet and I sure as hell don't believe that.

It's like that phony Marilyn Monroe quote about "if you can't take me at my worst, you don't deserve me at my best."

A Strong man will "recognize, admire, search for, long for, adore, bond to, laugh with, build a life with, cry with, forgo everything else that came before with....

I understand the point.

I am not amped up to level 11 poutrage by one simple word.

The Poutrage brigade...however?

I swear some people live to try and make everyone else feel as miserable as they must feel inside. forever in ATTACK mode.

oh...and wait for it....

It's coming.
