Video, Landslide Swallows at Least 10 Cars in Baltimore
wow..
On Thursday morning work was underway to remove debris from the landslide that swallowed several cars Wednesday evening. Crews used heavy machinery to pick up vehicles and remove them from the pit. The block-long sink hole happened near 26th and Charles Street. CSX is working around the clock in Baltimore to support fast and full recovery from the embankment collapse Wednesday afternoon that covered a segment of a rail line, CSX said in a statement on Thursday. The companys primary focus is on the well being of area residents, especially those who had to leave their homes, on first responders and other agencies, and on restoring customer service. Working with local authorities, assessments of the embankment collapse continue and there are no immediate estimates on the resumption of customer service. When emergency crews arrived on the scene Thursday morning one car still teetered on the edge. Neighbors on the scene said they had been calling the city about this issue for months and the city would repair the crack but never really fixing the issue.
