My tire blew out on the way home a little while ago. I heard this kind of clunky sound and I thought it was the lid of the old cooler I carry in back falling off. Happens sometimes. Then I started hearing this not so normal sound and I really couldn't pull over because that section of highway has no shoulders, just ditches. I elected to continue until I got to our village a short way down the road where I could pull over comfortably. Well, I discovered my tire was flat. I've never had this happen before and it unnerved me because I had been travelling at highway speed. Fortunately, it wasn't more serious and the car didn't handle differently and there was little traffic. I'm sure others have experienced this and consider it to be no big deal. It just unnerved me.

(9,644 posts)When you replace the flat replace the most worn of the remaing tires as well.

(37,364 posts)We were trying to get through the summer on this pair because we just replaced the tires on the truck and have some other repair work around the house we need to get done. Our summer budget is shot now. As I said, it could have been worse and I'm so relieved that it happened when I was on my way home.

(50,168 posts)Fortunately, I had just entered from the "on" ramp and wasn't up to speed yet. My biggest problem was not being able to figure out how to use the jack and, at the time, not having a cell phone. I remember a nice young woman stopping and bailing me out.
