I have a paid internship that ends when I graduate in two weeks. Its for a position where there is no option of staying on afterwards. I've been looking for my full time job since last October, and nothing's come up. My boss has been helping me look as well. Hopefully the job recovery means my job will be coming around soon.

When the economy loses a huge number of jobs in a recession, you have many more people competing for a smaller set of available positions. Many of those people will be similarly qualified. Which means the one who gets the job will usually be the one willing to do it for less money.

Conversely, when UE is low, there are fewer people looking for work, and employers have to pay more to get people to switch from their current job to a new one. And that pushes the pay scale up.

The reality is that the pay scale won't start to move up after any recession until UE gets pretty low, and then stays low for an extended period.

Bottom line:You have to get UE down before you'll see the pay scale move up.

No one should be surprised to learn that the recession has had a negative impact on pay levels.

I mean, we might not like reality, but we do need to know what it is.

You will not see a wage increase until HE how down an stays down. It's a necessary condition.

Unless you expected wages to jump during and right after the Great Recession.

How are THEIR salaries doing AFTER THE 'RECESSION'? Jamie Dimon, eg, did the 'recession' effect his pay check?

And considering the enormous damage these thieves and criminals did to the people of this country and others, losing their jobs for what, years, no INCOME at all, in many cases, many losing their homes too, and even after years they will NEVER CATCH UP as you just pointed out.

So considering this massive crime against the people, has even one of them paid for their crimes yet?? Maybe if we confiscated some of the billions, trillions they absconded with, we could pay back some of their victims, or put it back into the economy instead of letting them hoard it on one of their secret islands somewhere?

Btw, did you think you were telling people something they didn't know, did you not know that exactly what you just pointed out is already on the LONG LIST of results of their massive crimes?

Where's King Henry Paulson these days? How is his pay check after the recession??

had, then we'll be back to the same unemployment rate, then we'll be back to higher income jobs, then we'll be back to more jobs than in the past and so on.
To those who want to piss on any good news that comes out: To heck with you. Those of us who truly care about this country and it's future will celebrate all the good news we can. Good news is a sign of progress. We're not there, but we're getting there. You can stay miserable and spout you "yeah but" bullshit, but me, i'll be happy. And i'll be happy when more good news comes out. And I'll work for a higher minimum wage, and I'll be happy when that happens as well.
I've noticed that most of the whiners espouse a Marxist, Socialist or Communist economy. We aren't any of those things in the Democratic party so maybe you'd be happier if you complained to other Marxists and stop whining to Democrats who believe in capitalism with strong regulation and a healthy social safety net.

the ones it's so far passed by.

I am still unemployed with no prospects I know about.

I lost a 6 figure job and so far the only ones I've been offered to replace it are at least 75% less. I took a 75% pay cut 8 years ago when I joined the company that just laid me off.

I am still VERY pissed. Lots of us at 55+ are VERY pissed. What we were taught was to be our best earning years is turning out to be premature use of our recession-diminished retirement funds to make ends meet.

The fucking 1% are destroying us, and it's not even for their pleasure. I read articles where they are whining about being attacked for what they are doing. If they think that's being attacked, just wait. We will get more pissed and more insistent as our funds dry up in old age and we make them face the folly of their ways.
