At the same time their cost to make each physical product is a small part of the cost to produce. Very small.

People assume the sole cost of a product is the actual items that go into it. New technology is usually expensive at first because of the massive amounts of money that went into creating the IP.

That said, I have zero desire to own this gimmick.

Aren't most first gen technical products priced to recoup R&D costs? Why else were DVD players, Blu-ray players, consoles, MP3 players and so on priced so high.

Google Glass is priced ridiculously high for what it actually is though. But who prices a product for what it actually costs to make? Nobody really.

But hey, google bashing is in vogue.

It does not make much sense to compare it to the cost of an iPhone because the iPhone is marketed to a much larger group of people, when you have more people buying the product you can spread out the R&D costs more so it does not add as much cost to each individual item.

Google Glass is not intended for everyone, and I do have some problems with the privacy issues surrounding it. I have a father with very poor eyesight however and I see great potential for Google Glass to help him, if he had glasses that allowed him to zoom in on objects it could allow him to see things he would otherwise never be able to see and that is a great technology.

In fact, I somehow feel offended when I see someone wearing them.

It is emotional, and I cannot put my finger on it (the middle one keeps popping up when I see a pair), but it is what it is.

your high-end $160 shirt costing $3 worth of labor and materials in Bangladesh??

And does an admitted Apple fanatic such as yourself *really* have any high ground to stand on??
