Extra Bonus Quote of the Day

"Democrats bragging about the number of mandatory sign ups for Obamacare is like Germans bragging about the number of manditory {sic} sign ups for 'train rides' for Jews in the 40s."

-- Tennessee state Sen. Stacey Campfield (R), quoted by TPM.

"While Stacey Campfield routinely makes remarks that are over the top, today's comments are ignorant and repugnant," he responded in an official statement emailed to reporters this morning. "No political or policy disagreement should ever be compared to the suffering endured by an entire generation of people. Those comments have no place in our public discourse. He should offer an apology to members of the Jewish faith immediately."

Devaney's counterpart, Tennessee Democratic Party Chairman Roy Herron, wasn't much a fan of the comparison either.

"Senator Campfield's blog post this morning is just the latest example of Tea Party Republican extremism. To compare attempts to save American lives through access to healthcare with Nazis killing European Jews is outrageous, pathetic, and hateful," he said. "Sen. Campfield and other Tea Party Republicans ought to look at the 5,000 Tennesseans who will die within the next 3 years because Tea Party Republicans refused to take the 100% federal funding to expand Medicaid and have denied working Tennesseans access to healthcare."

That's just brain-wrackingly stupid. Pants-on-head stupid, as I heard someone refer to it recently. I like that one.

Dunning-Krueger in action. I'll bet he thought that was clever as hell. Some right wing dolts I know do the same thing with their 2nd-grader humor. Just had one smarmily say "Voting for Obama is like a chicken voting for Frank Perdue" as if were the most original all-time zinger.

Or was this statement simply allowed to stand? Unchecked? Unchallenged? Unquestioned? Nobody threw a shit fit? Nobody made a stink about it?

Just stop and think for a moment. Some Dem makes some dumb statement - a la Kerry and putting "apartheid" and "Israel" in the same sentence. A freakin' firestorm of criticism rained down on him after that from the bad guys!!!!! WHY DOESN'T OUR SIDE EVER RESPOND LIKE THAT??????????

have for right wing nutjob of the week, or similar "awards". Each time it's vile and revolting. I think Wonkette has him on there quite a bit. I just looked it up, Wonkette gave him the Legislative $hitmuffin award for 2013 If you google Wonkette, Stacey Campfield you'll see the full spectrum of his hate and ignorance.

Senator Campfield,
I am writing to you today as a mother, active citizen and born & raised Tennessean. You are an embarrassment to our great state. Folks all over the country and here in Tennessee are looking at the bills that you are proposing in shock. They are the most ignorant and morally lacking legislation that could be proposed this year. It is clear that you are targeting homosexuals and low income families with hogwash legislation. You need to search your heart, your values and your Christianity to find a better way to represent us as a whole. We will do everything in our power to make sure that you are not here in 2014. There are numerous grass roots parties that are making their voices heard.
Thanks
Telisha Arguelles Chris Cobb
Senator Campfield, how did you reply?
You seem to have some serious, deep anger issues. Have you ever thought about therapy? I hear they are doing some wonderful things with medications these days.
Yours in service,
Sen. Stacey Campfield

reform as the FLOTUS.

It was droned into the national consciousness day after day. He promised Death Panels, killing the elderly and disabled if HRC succeeded.

Those were his talking points in the early 1990s to bring in the Gingrich majority. It worked fine for the GOP then.

This stuff has been a gold mine. Why should they give these memes up?

Please don't say because it's shameful, they have no shame.
