Ms. Landrieu, Mr. Clinton, et al, exactly how does Keystone XL provide "energy independence?"
I just don't understand how for-profit energy corporations taking over private and public lands in order to ship dirty, expensive Canadian oil sands to Texas for shipment to China does ANYTHING for the United States except destroy land, and provide a handful of temporary jobs. Exactly how does this do one thing to make the United States "energy independent?" Maybe I'm just naive.
