Valerie Plame and Joe Wilson to host ‘Ready for Hillary’ fundraiser
Former CIA officer Valerie Plame and her husband, former ambassador Joe Wilson, are hosting a fundraiser this month to support Hillary Rodham Clinton's prospective 2016 presidential campaign.
Plame and Wilson will be the "special guests of honor" at a May 21 breakfast in Santa Fe, N.M., where they now live, to raise money for Ready for Hillary, a super PAC laying the groundwork for Clinton's possible campaign, according to an invitation obtained Tuesday by The Washington Post.
The couple will join Santa Fe Mayor Javier Gonzales (D), who was recently elected as the city's first openly gay mayor, as co-hosts. Craig Smith, a former political aide in Bill Clinton's White House and a senior adviser to Ready for Hillary, is scheduled to speak at the breakfast, to be held at the Hotel Santa Fe. Earl Potter, a former chairman of the New Mexico Democratic Party and longtime Clinton supporter, and his wife, Deborah, are listed as event co-chairs.
Event co-chairs and co-hosts have given $1,000 and $500 to the super PAC respectively, according to the invitation.
