The Democratic Governor's Association abandons Wendy Davis but embraces Mary Burke.

Mary Burke outsourced Wisconsin jobs to China, donated to charter schools, voted against the teacher's union, praised Scott Walker's budget and called herself a fiscal conservative, yet the DGA wants me to support her? WTF???

My advice, don't send them a fucking dime.

from my email ...

It’s 47-47 in Wisconsin! The Daily Beast called Mary Burke the “woman who could beat Scott Walker.” We could FINALLY wipe that smirk off Walker’s face. Your donation to DEFEAT Tea Party Republicans will be DOUBLED up to $56,000 in the next 48 hours.

...

It’s our turn to turn them out. If we do, Mary wins and Walker’s toast! And that’s true in other key battlegrounds as well.

So every day until the election, we’ve got to raise $56,000 to win. When you donate in the next 48 hours, a donor will DOUBLE your gift up to $56,000.

That would be this Mary Burke ...

According to a report in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Democratic gubernatorial frontrunner Mary Burke called herself a “fiscal conservative” during a meeting on Tuesday with Milwaukee business leaders.

While I understand that calling herself a “fiscal conservative” will win her some votes among moderates and independents, it’s certainly not going to win her many fans among her base, and I’m disappointed that the candidate most likely to end up as the Democratic standard-bearer against Gov. Scott Walker is proud to call herself a “fiscal conservative,” because when I think of fiscal conservatives I don’t think of Democrats who’ll stand up for the middle class – I think of Democrats like Chris Abele, who’s proven he’s certainly no champion of the largely middle class public employees who work for Milwaukee County.

What’s more, when I think of “fiscal conservatives,” I think of Scott Walker and Glenn Grothmann, and if that’s the kind of company Mary Burke wants to be associated with as fellow fiscal conservatives, then I think I’ve officially entered the Twilight Zone.

Well, I guess it's consistent with her other recent statement ...

BURKE: "In terms of the fiscal picture, there is no doubt that the first budget that introduced and that he implemented significantly improved the financial situation of the state, because the state was coming out of this downturn, in 2008 and 2010, revenues were going down, there were, you know, the structural deficit grew, and basically he got rid of the structural deficit."

You know, Generals gotta lose or the crowd goes home unhappy. So, the Globetrotters get to Globetrot.

The Reds defeated the Globetrotters 100-99 on January 5, 1971 in Martin, Tennessee. It ended a 2,495-game winning streak. Klotz credits the overtime win to a guard named Eddie Mahar, who was team captain.[3] Harlem's captain, Curly Neal, did not play in this game.[4]

While the Globetrotters were entertaining the crowd that day, they lost track of the game and the score. They found themselves down 12 points with two minutes left to go. Forced to play normal basketball, the Globetrotters rallied but could not recover.[5]

The Reds secured their victory when Klotz hit the winning basket with seconds left. Then Meadowlark Lemon missed a shot that would have given the game back to the Globetrotters. The timekeeper tried to stop the clock and couldn't. When the final buzzer sounded, the crowd was dumbfounded and disappointed.[6] Klotz described the fans' reaction: "They looked at us like we killed Santa Claus."[7]

Some children in the stands cried after the loss.[4] The Reds celebrated by dousing themselves with orange soda instead of champagne. Lemon was furious, saying "You lost, I didn't lose," but still visited the opposing team’s locker room to congratulate the Reds.[6]
