Born and raised in the USA? Studied for years and went into debt learning a complex tech skill such as engineering, chemistry, or computer programming?
Tough $hit, says the Obama administration -- it wants to make it even tougher for you to find a decent job in a very tough market by allowing the "talented" spouses of, ahem, "talented" H-1B tech workers to pretty much gobble as many good jobs in the tech fields as possible.
It happened something like this: Some Robert Rubin and Hillary Clinton types, Wall Street Democrats, and Silicon Valley-bribed Dems like Rep. Zoe Lofgren (spouting bull$hit in the linked article below), friends of Obama and his inner White House crew, were wined-and-dined by Indian outsourcing lobbyists at a fancy Georgetown restaurant, and an agreement was made to astroturf a "We The People" petition and use that for cover to push for expanding the H-1B visa limit.
Never mind the fact that the Obama administration didn't give a crap about the many anti-Keystone pipeline "We the People" petitions. Those were given some lip service about "let's study the situation...but it's not going to change our mind."
And in true Kabuki theater fashion, it gives the Republicans a chance to pretend that they actually give a damn about Americans' jobs.

Administration proposes allowing H-1B spouses to work
Posted on Tuesday, May 6 at 2:17pm
The White House announced a plan Tuesday to allow spouses of H-1B visa holders to work in the United States.
H-1B visas, used mainly for technology workers, are a big part of the broader immigration debate, with technology companies demanding greater numbers in exchange for their support. H-1B visas are most heavily used by tech workers from India.
The Senate-passed immigration bill, which has been blocked by the House, would increase H-1B visas for skilled workers from 65,000 a year to at least 115,000, and possibly as many as 300,000.
The proposed rule published by the Department of Homeland Security, according to the White House, would for the first time allow work authorization for the spouses of H-1B workers who have begun the process of applying for a green card through their employers. Once enacted, this proposed rule would empower these spouses to put their own education and skills to work for the country that they and their families now call home. ...The administration said the rule change was requested in a We the People petition. Such petitions are found on a White House website.

(9,317 posts)Thanks for the toll roads and giving my job to an Indian immigrant. At least when an Indian immigrant takes my job I won't have to pay the toll anymore.

(490 posts)why is this simple thing so hard for U.S. politicians to understand? And this... this is rubbing salt in the wounds. Don't do us any more favors Mr. President.

(45,380 posts)of which I am seeing more of recently. Lazy, useless, entitled, etc. Or maybe the visa workers are "talented" in working longer hours for less pay, contract work with no job security, moving every few months, sharing apartments with lots of people, and deportation if unemployed? Hmm.... Next they will have the solution for this problem. Send American workers overseas to do jobs Indians won't do?
Thank God our job creators are so efficient.
