Be on the Alert all you DU heathens

The Christians are gearing up and coming for you:

"There is a value in spiritual violence,&quot Matthew-son of James) Hagee declared, "and it is time that you considered the role that you are playing or not playing and whether or not it's time for you to become more aggressive in your beliefs"

that blood be spilled. They ask for the cleansing of all gay people from their nations, some have told their followers to turn their gay children into authorities in nations with anti gay laws.
It is not at all uncommon for religious figures in mainstream religions to advocate violence. Pope Francis called opposition to LGBT rights 'God's war which we must fight' and then when the violence started, he shut up and let his Bishops fill in the blanks for him.

Has a fair amount of good information, not just on Uganda (although that's the main issue of the moment, for obvious reasons).

I got push back yesterday from pointing out that Religion ruins everything good about humanity - in a round about way.

Christian, Muslim, Tree Fairy worshipper - does not matter. Religion used as a bludgeon ruins everything.

As the influence of the likes of the Hagee's of this country wanes we are going to see a lot more of this rhetoric.

As the "nones" increase and secularism rises, in spite of their opposition to decent education that readily turns out people capable of critical thought, this type of push back and the others of late will increase.

Science and secularism has been dragging the religious forward, kicking and screaming for centuries. They're (we are) used to it by now.

But in this country certainly they are going to start kicking and screaming a lot harder and louder. The Hagee's and the Robertsons and the others who promote these belief systems have absolutely no desire to see their influence reduced any further. That would mean they would have to get real jobs. That can't happen because there is too much money to be made in deceiving people.

They are in a class of people who are convinced they know what's best for everyone else and know that they're rules for daily living are better because they have a 2000 year old book from the Middle East that tells them so.

It will get a lot worse, I fear

just what the hell is "spiritual violence" anyway???

What are they gonna do...pray for our heads to explode right after our eyeballs fall out of our heads and drop into our bowls of dead-goats-and-fetuses soup?

believe. They think Christians should have their own "Jihadists" for Christ. Never mind that Christ supposedly taught tolerance and non-violence. This sort of thing is why so many people are against the Christian religion these days. Notice I didn't say Christians but the religion.

exactly is spiritual about violence?

The ignorant led by religious charlatans invariably resort to violence in the end, violence is the result of ignorance and dark ages.
I just can't wait for the new "burning times" and neo-inquisitors. I am sure it will be as "positive" as torture and or killing in the name of fairy tale figures could ever be.
