So Huntsvillians built the Saturn Vs that put Neil on the moon.

The Redstone, Mercury, Apollo, and Saturn programs were all designed and tested here. That was a time when we put a lot of trust in SCIENCE STUFF like PHYSICS and MATHEMATICS. Those folks put their trust in SCIENCE ahead of anything else that might have had an influence upon their lives at the time.

Huntsville is still a very scientific centered town engaged in cutting edge R&D for (mostly) the DOD and NASA but SCIENCE has much less influence than it did during the space race.

Now Huntsville is becoming known for people like this guy:

And his bullshit lends credence to SCIENCE disputing global warming.

Some of the brilliant engineers I worked with on the Apollo program at NASA in Houston are now global-warming deniers.

NASA was engineering far more than it was science. The two mindsets are quite different.
