(18,101 posts)With this shitty job market, we're seeing the return to a lot of that shit in non-union jobs.

(30,058 posts)For the younger folks who has not had the opportunity to work on a Union Job, I truly feel for them. I worked where our Union Contract was a working agreement on handling many issues. Contrary to many who believe union workers are lazy and wants something for not doing any work, as a union member I expected my co-workers to also perform and many times I talked to those who was not performing properly. If they did not work it left more work for me and other co-workers to do, Also if there was a supervisor who was getting out of line just a soft reminder they were getting over the top usually brought them back into reality. Unions all the way, good for the company and good for the workers.

(1,889 posts)Union membership (or a worker's council) is required for businesses
employing more than 25 employees. It doesn't hurt their economy. They have a positive trade balance, and there is less income inequality. I would like to see something like that here. This would be a requirement for any business engaged in interstate commerce.

I've seen many attacks on the Teachers Union among those who support the Charter School Privatization effort.
