Bengazi is a horrible scandal

Bengazi is a horrible scandal. It is just not the way the ReThugs wish it to be.

Congress - namely the ReThugs - voted to decrease security spending by the State Department.

After countless hearing by Issa, they want to pump up the volume with the Select Committee. If the Dems are smart - and they can be sometimes - just run ads promoting "Snopes" like factoids. The American people will see the imbicility of the Gowdy types and by association, the entire ReThug party.

You can start with GOP fundraising about the "new" committee.

DNC, get off your a$$ and get to work.

1. No one I know talks about it.

I've been wondering if the only ones who even know what Benghazi is even about are those like us that are politically aware. I think it is too complicated and too long ago for the mainstream. Maybe I'm wrong but in the rabid republican area I live in, no one is talking about it.

near as i can figure, the accusation is that the obama administration made some confusing and/or confused p.r. statements in the immediate aftermath of the attack as to whether the attack was spontaneous or organized terror.

oh, and then of course they covered up about it.

oooh, and maybe even that p.r. confusion was deliberate.

no, seriously, what? what was the administration even supposed to be gaining one way or the other? at worst, this scandal is about an adminstration putting political spin on their public statements. and? and?

Benghazi will become a verb (to Benghazi) and will mean: to trump up phony charges in order to Impeach the first Black President.

6. It's an inquiry that is being pursued for bad reasons.

They say it's all about "the families who lost their loved ones."
It should be about budget cutting, indifference to hostility, and the refusal to live in the real world at almost every level of legislation.
The objective of any inquiry should be preventing incidents like these in the future, not beating the admin over the head with the past.
The Democrats could take this issue away, if they're brave enough to touch it.

7. Worse than that. Romney had insider knowledge. It was supposed to be an October

surprise modeled on the Iran Embassy crisis. It was deliberate. They posted freaky, offensive anti-Muslim videos online---and then, someone attacks US citizens abroad.Who attacked? Terrorists on a mission from Allah? How do we know? Remember, there are mercenaries out there, too. People who will fight for money. And Romney knew about it sooner than he should have and he opened his big mouth too soon and put his big foot in his big mouth and spoiled it and so they had to dump their October surprise.

Has anyone at DU considered the possibility that all the Tea Party investigations are really designed to embarrass Romney and make sure he does not run again? He does very poorly in the general. The South hates him. The base hates him. But, being a Mormon and being on a mission from God, it is very likely that he plans to run again and again and again. Maybe the folks that want to see Brother Jeb slide into the nomination without a fight are keeping this craziness alive to deter Romney.

If my take on this is correct, the CIA knows the back story---and the CIA backs the Bush family. So, maybe the House is being encouraged to keep the B word going by the CIA and the Bush clan and the NeoCons in order to keep Romney suppressed.

Just sayin'. Oh, and another thing. Big Dog has the insider info on the Hostages for Votes deal that went down in 1980. Just in case it comes down to Hillary v. Jeb in 2016. Meaning, if Hillary runs, I think Jeb will sit it out. And if anyone is foolish enough to take a shot at Hillary, I think that the insider info in the Hostages for Votes deal goes public, so the CIA probably has her on their Must Protect list. Politics is mean business. Just ask Ethel Kennedy.

They are NOT! They always react on GOP Bullshit, never get out in front of it. Why the FUCK don't the Democrats scream about the intelligence failures on Bush and Cheney's watch? If the Republicans throw a fit about trying to score political points on 9/11 deaths, the Democrats could say YOU ARE THE BIGGEST HYPOCRITES ON THE PLANET! Do the math Bengazi = 4 American deaths. 9/11 = over 4,000 deaths. Do they really want to go there? Yes they do, because the Democrats still play by nice rules that the GOP laugh at!

12. Had the ambassador lived, HE would be the one being investigated

for GOING there and getting the CIA agents (who were not even supposed to BE there) killed.

Or if they had lived, and the ambassador killed, THEY would have been the ones being investigated

The GOP lives to investigate democrats for ANYTHING and EVERYTHING.

They are totally safe because Democrats never follow through with GOP "scandals"..

We whiffed on Iran Contra..we let GWB & the gang slide.. we even whiffed when JFK was assassinated.

The FACT is that whenever an ambassador is appointed to a dangerous post, the ACCEPT the dangers and possibility that they could be harmed/killed.

I am still a bit befuddled about why he CHOSE to travel as that particularly sensitive time..and especially when the video was such an issue, but since he is dead, there will be no answers

13. Benghazi was bad, bad the funding had been cut in the budget but the GOP will never

Take responsibility for their actions. I would hope this would be brought up every day. Elijah Cummings has performed brilliantly while on the oversight committee with Issa, leaving Issa in the dust on several occasions. Already the GOP has shown their hand in Benghazi being a fundraising stunt. It is not about finding a better plan to protect US facilities around the world, they could care less about future protections, and this would have happened already and Hillary has brought this point out in a hearing. She needs the free publicity.

14. The really horrible thing about Benghazi?
Sun May 11, 2014, 11:10 PM
May 2014

The republicans destroyed our economy in 2008. As a result in 2009 (?) they voted to cut embassy security, and one of the republicans who voted for this bill said that "in tough economic times sacrifices have to be made". And we got Benghazi as a result. So really the republicans are the ones to blame for this.
