WASHINGTON — I BELIEVE that killing an American citizen without a trial is an extraordinary concept and deserves serious debate. I can’t imagine appointing someone to the federal bench, one level below the Supreme Court, without fully understanding that person’s views concerning the extrajudicial killing of American citizens.

But President Obama is seeking to do just that. He has nominated David J. Barron, a Harvard law professor and a former acting assistant attorney general, to a seat on the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

While he was an official in the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel, Mr. Barron wrote at least two legal memos justifying the execution without a trial of an American citizen abroad. Now Mr. Obama is refusing to share that legal argument with the American people.

Ok, that's twice in two days Rand Paul has said something reasonable, and it's making me feel weird.

1. Rand Paul is trying to bridge the gap, if he does america is done absolutely

This extreme libertarian racist (he is the nice kind of white supremacist, he wants to resolve unfair justice system but he wants to maintain control of minorities and women thru capitalism) would devastate everything that makes America, America...

2. I'm not debating that Rand Paul is an asshole

I'm just saying that he's right on this issue. He was also right when he said Republicans are being assholes and people didn't like it.

As you well know, David J. Barron will be presiding over many more kinds of cases than the one kind you write about here and, while you may have the right opinion on the use of drones, you are taking the wrong position.

Judges, including those who sit on the US Court of Appeals and even the Supreme Court, cannot make rulings that the laws you, yourself, write and pass in Congress, don't allow. If you are so opposed to the use of drones, I respectfully direct you to the chamber in which you are a part of. There are plenty of Democrats who, like you, find our military-industrial complex distasteful. There are plenty of members on both sides of the aisle who are against our police state. Get together with your colleagues, pass a resolution dismantling that part of our apparatus and putting in place strict ethics guidelines. Then, get your counterparts in the House of Representatives to follow suit.

Basically, do your fucking job as a senator.
