Republicans are on the verge of making the switch.. From "There is no such thing" to

"It is too Late to do anything Now" Rubio was right on the verge of saying just that when he was talking about Climate Change/Global Warming. This new twist will be as effective as their complete denial. Which means absolutely nothing will get done. I guess our best bet is just to keep hammering them on whether they belive in Science or not..

We shouldn't worry too much about preserving land for future generations because there may not be very many.

It is interesting watching the GOP-shuffle on climate change. Not everyone catches up to the current step (Heck, some are still stuck on #1) but I've definitely seen at least 5 distinct stages of GOPer development on climate change:

1) No such thing as Global Warming

2) OK, you're right, temperatures are going up, but it's just part of a natural cycle. (Sometimes included in #1)

3) OK, fine, there's Global Warming, but it's not man made.

4) OK, true, humans are releasing a lot of CO2 that's impacting climate change....but who's to say it's a bad thing?

5) There's Global Warming, it's bad, and it may be caused by humans, but there's nothing we can do about it now.

11. Actually there's another step in the progression:

6) The liberal policies of Democrat administrations caused global warming by enabling every American to own an automobile and contribute to the proliferation of greenhouse gases.

Nothing we can do about it now, except crucify every last one of them for denying the problem in the first place.

Willful ignorance and greed have won the day.

Republicans say we need to pay down the debt and reduce deficits and reduce/eliminate social security and medicare etc etc so we can leave this country in sound fiscal shape for our children and grandchildren.

Reagan: “To be young in my generation was to feel that your future had been mortgaged out from under you, and that's a tragic mistake we must never allow our leaders to make again.”

Paul Ryan: "Today, our leaders are again making the tragic choice to mortgage our children’s future. But there is an alternative, and over the next two days we will share with you how controlling spending, reforming our social safety net programs and lifting the crushing burden of debt will spur job creation and put us back on a sustainable fiscal and economic path." (from 2010)

If climate change cannot be stopped, then we won't be able to survive in 100 years - so why do we need to cut social safety net programs today to help our grandchildren and great grandchildren later - they won't be able to enjoy it anyway!

That's the motto. Lie, deny, delay, obfuscate. Whatever keeps next quarter's profts up.

That sine-wave like defense of it by conservatives has been trotted out time and time again.

Just another way to evade the issue, we've got to keep sticking to them no matter what they say.
