So Drewniak said that Wildstein did tell Christie about Bridgegate on 9/11

Sepien also knew. I'm betting Christie knew before that - get the popcorn again

He considered David Wildstein, the Port Authority official whom Christie’s team of internal investigators blames for the closures, a friend, and the two occasionally had dinner. Drewniak described Wildstein as “someone I trusted, someone I considered a friend and someone who I knew worked very hard and long hours.”

Drewniak spoke about the “personal betrayal” he felt when he learned of Wildstein’s role in the lane closures.

“I now know how badly, regrettably, even naively, I misplaced that trust,” he said.

But he declined to agree with Assemblyman Lou Greenwald, D-Camden, that Wildstein was the “architect” of the lane closures.

“I’m just not prepared to ascribe that word to it,” Drewniak said, adding that he still does not understand the reason for the closures.

Drewniak was the author of emails containing some of the harshest language that has emerged in the bridge scandal. In one, he described his anger when he learned of Wildstein’s involvement in the lane closures: ““I could claw his eyes out, pour gasoline in the sockets and light him up,”” Drewniak said. In another, he called a reporter a “mutt,” preceded by a profanity.

It's laughable that the lanes were closed to punish a mayor. And it's laughable that the report that exonerated Christie didn't even try to come up with any reasons for the closures.

"The theory, first postulated by MSNBC host Steve Kornacki, involves a massive development project in the heart of Fort Lee that sits quite literally in the shadow of the George Washington Bridge. The land has sat vacant for years and Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich has made it his mission to get it developed.
And he's been largely successful, helping to negotiate a $1 billion mixed use development on the 16-acre parcel that includes residential retail and parking.
But according to the theory, in August when the "go" order was given to Port Authority official David Wildstein to create traffic problems in Fort Lee, financing for a portion of the project had not yet been secured. Much of the value of the property relies on its proximity to the bridge and the ease of entry, using the now infamous dedicated local lanes out of the borough.
By diverting - or threatening to divert- those lanes, the value of the property and the burgeoning development would plummet."

Here is a take on Samson's interest in the bridge closures.

It begs the question: Which firms were the losers in this coveted and hard-won development Hudson Lights project? One of the firms that bid on developing the entire 16-acre parcel, which was split into two phases of development, was Silverstein Properties in conjunction with Taubman Centers. Silverstein is the World Trade Center developer. It was Silverstein's bid to develop the entire parcel, including the Tucker piece. But it appears that Tucker wanted to keep its piece and develop it themselves.
[...]
Larry Silverstein was a long-term client of David Samson.

Mayor Sokolich was called "an idiot" by one of Christie's key staffers, now fired. Mayor Sokolich has had some fun calling himself "the idiot" who has spearheaded Fort Lee's progressive moves, including this landmark development deal. The level of animosity in this "war" goes far deeper than anything having to do with a failure by Sokolich to endorse Chris Christie's re-election. That alone just is not a plausible reason for the timing and nature of the lane-closure retribution.
