And woke me. I had fallen asleep in the living room on the couch under a window. I looked out and saw 2 men in my 2 cars stripping out the stereos. I had a gun but my hand was shaking so bad I couldn't have used it. I called 911 and they caught them. They had robbed 20 people in the neighborhood that night. My little sweet kitty alerted me to that fact. She got tuna for a week.

(2,193 posts)But he is a chickenshit that was feral and is fearful. My little Manx, CK was a confident little cat. She slept on my neck the night she went into labor. I knew that's what was going on and got her through it. She had kittens in suit case under my bed. I already had homes for all the kittens because everyone loved her and all the kittens were smart and lived long lives.

(1,616 posts)for the things she wanted or needed that were quite clear and sometimes sounded like the human word. She was adored by all and lived to be 20-1/2 years old. She would have lived longer but a dear roommate who meant well gave her a "treat" - a package of small chunks of "meat" in "gravy" that turned out to be some of that poisoned food from China. I still dream about her sometimes and I miss her to this day.

(2,193 posts)My other cat hissed at one of her kittens. She picked up kitten, put in in safe place and walked back across the room and slapped the shit out of the other cat. I laughed and laughed.

(7,720 posts)The first one we only had for 6 months when it died of smoke when the veterinary clinic caught fire. The second my family got when I was 7 years old and I had to have it put down when I was 28. (One of the most difficult things I've ever had to do. The only worse thing was being with my mother when she died.)
The third cat was interesting, but would not use the litterbox consistently (even with three clean, litterboxes) we found a no-kill animal shelter/placement service for him. Iur current cat is a doll (female-spayed). She always uses the litterbox, even when it's a couple days past cleaning time. She licks the shower door after somebody is done showering. She loves to chase a red laser pointer dot on the floor, fur iture, and walls. She loves to knead people, but I really don't like it when she kneads my throat at 3am.
I don't think any of these cats would alert us to burglars or tackle a dog that was attacking one of our children. Although I might be wrong.

(2,193 posts)I am they only person that he will let near him and he loves me to the point of irritation but when I had a broken ankle 6 years ago he rarely left my side. My dogs love him and he is my Baby Boy. He is a hunter and I find dead things in my house all the time.
I have raised so many and I just accept them for what they are but I''ll never forget that fierce little black Manx that chased off the robbers in my neighborhood. I had to testify in court about it and they all laughed when I said my cat alerted me.

(7,720 posts)"You wanna cat?"
The last one came from my brother bexause his son went into the army and five years later he came home allergic to cats. The odd thing is, four of my nieces and nephews are allergic to cats and the nephews all had cats in their homes when they were young. The boys are in their 20s, the niece is 11. Her mother bought a hairless cat. I first saw it in a Christmas card photo and was horrified. I don't mind the litterbox, but I don't want to habe to spread moisturizing lotion onto a cat.

(7,720 posts)would have been capable of 'taking carexof business'. But I don't know if ge would have.
I remember once when I was working from home on my computer. This cat was sitting on the floor looking up at me. I had a huge sneeze coming on. Since I did not wish to coat my laptop with snot, I turned my head and sneezed on the cat. From then on, whenever I wanted the cat to scram, I inhaled deeply, as if for a sneeze, ane he would dart away. I think it became a game for him because I would do the big inhale, he would scram, and he would come back several times to continue the game. He was a good cat. I wish he understood the litterbox.

(2,100 posts)What a great watch kitty you have and I'm so glad it turned out well in the end. When my cat acts freaky I always pay attention. I'm glad you do too!
My cat doesn't growl very often, but it's a most un-catlike growl. He's a bengal and very dog-like anyway. But when he growls like a dog it's just weird.
