We hear it after every mass shooting: politicians on both sides of the aisle intoning their deepest condolences to the victims and their families. We hear a lot about thoughts and prayers and sympathies. We especially hear it from politicians who kowtow to the NRA and the gun lobby, usually framed in the language of unnamed inexplicable evil that mere humans cannot control.
But the father of one of the victims of the Isla Vista shootings put it best when he said:
Damn straight.

If I was that father I would not know if I could stop myself from reacting very badly to the assholes...

(28,769 posts)i went to youtube to get the video of his first statement after his son died, and FIRST ON THE LIST after i searched (i think it was "victim's father speaks" , was a youtube video that characterized him as a fake victim reading from a script. top of the results. these people are so far gone they don't even think mass shootings really happen!

(16,286 posts)While Black president is in power, they will react this way to everything.
They all of a sudden want their country back and they need guns to do it...
Yes, they were disgusting filthy pigs before Black President, but since then they have gone on pig steroids..

(32,004 posts)it's not like it was "their country" to start with. And I include my own Puritan ancestor in this comment. The colonizing of this country was a European land grab. There were already indigenous folks living on the land. They have some nerve thinking anything is "theirs".
I swear it's like dealing with a 2-yr old whenever you have to talk to a republican - if they see something they think they own it.

(31,936 posts)And please don't say "it was not as bad with Clinton." That is just a pathetic attempt to re-write history. Clinton was accused of being in a murder coverup (Vince Foster) and having one of his Cabinet secretaries (Ron Brown) killed. No one has accused Obama of that.

(32,777 posts)No one in the Democratic Party has ever met on the night of a republican inauguration and vowed to make that President be a failure. NEVER has a party dragged down a country and made people suffer at the hands of those who have everything like the current batch of republicans. So spare me your false equivalence. I wish the full force of whatever Karma there is in this world be heaved on every single one of them in congress and those who vote for them. /rant

(31,936 posts)Since there is EXTREME racism towards him. How did Obama get the highest percentage of the white vote since LBJ? Does this racism just disappear every four years on election day?

(16,140 posts)Has hit new heights in the past 6 years. Never before do I remember walking into a coffee shop and seeing people just sitting around with their guns. Parking lot full of vehicles with bumper stickers with a "sight" on a caricature of Pres Obama.

(18,124 posts)about the prevalence of guns out in the open, because they want their country back and the open references to assassinating our POTUS. If any breathed a thought like that with bushco cabalists, they are still in Gitmo. If from the day of that first SOU address, that idiot that shouted out "liar" had been heavily criticized and irredeemably censured, we might have started out on the right footing in regard to this POTUS. But noooooooo! Ryan and bonehead promising to thwart EVERY initiative by Obama and bonehead screaming,, "one term President". Maybe, just maybe, the RW pundits, too numerous to name, but limppig and beckerhead and handjob come to mind, wouldn't have felt like they had legislators backing their racism. Those same RW pundits might not have had the ammunition to stir up their sheeple, bundy ranch, operation spring base. The reality of the last six years opened my eyes to how much scum lives under the rocks in this swamp of amerikkkan democracy and culture. I knew it was always here, but out of sight......not too worried. I'm glad these clowns came out and showed the truth that's always been the red- white and-blue.

(18,124 posts)a n..... while being POTUS. Please yours and others type of BS is getting real old after listening to that word as a reference to the POTUS for THE LAST SIX YEARS!!!!!!!
former9thward
(31,936 posts)Maybe you hear it in your circle of friends. Have you seen the word on DU? Yes or No? Because that is what the poster was saying who I was replying to -- that there was extreme racism on DU to Obama. Please link to it on DU.
heaven05
(18,124 posts)inability to see or believe the reality of the last six years with Barack Obama as POTUS. No one ever shouted out "liar" to any modern 'other' color POTUS in my historical time frame. Maybe you haven't heard such in your circle of friends, but I just read where some 'police chief' got fired or had to resign in new hampshire or vermont, one of those live fee or die states because he was referring to my POTUS as such, and he is definitely not in my circle of friends and I do resent and am offended by your implication. No I won't link. But to make it easier for you, just google the occurances on whatever search engine or what ever. I can't believe that you could deny ever seeing or hearing about my POTUS being referred to as such. If that is true, sheltered much. Detached much. Maybe so.
former9thward
(31,936 posts)And YOU defended that. Where on DU is there "extreme racism"?
heaven05
(18,124 posts)an intelligently applied racism on this site sometime in reference to our POTUS and toward black people and minorities in general. I don't know if they are trolls from elsewhere just trying to push a button. Doesn't matter, it's here and it will never go away...no doubt about it. But you know, some people just can't help it. I got that he was referring to extreme racism in amerikkkan culture toward our POTUS, which there is, and the instance(s) where racism could be inferred from some responses here. It how you want to spin it.

(31,936 posts)But that December, then-Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan told a congressional committee that the number of threats against Obama had not -- again, had not -- increased by 400 percent.
"The threats right now ... is the same level as it has been for the previous two presidents at this point in their administrations," Sullivan said.
He told the committee hed discuss specifics in private. The Secret Service doesnt like to discuss threats against a president because it doesnt want copycats to get any ideas.
Sullivan told U.S. News during an interview in March 2010 that the threat level had not increased since Obama became president. Sullivan retired last month.

not to mention in countless other times of crisis. They always reveal their utter

One always wonders what they can think of their wives, their daughters,

Otherwise, how do we fix this chronic disease that is eradicating all sense of what is human? How do we vaccinate ignorance? With the technology that brought us such great possibilities, how have so many become insane?
