Democrat calls Republican Leadership Conference a 'massive gathering' of Jindal's 'stupid party'

Referring to a comment made by Gov. Bobby Jindal last January, urging the Republican party to "stop being the stupid party," the Democratic National Committee on Thursday described the Republican Leadership Conference set to kick off Thursday evening as a "massive gathering of 'the stupid party.'"

The State Republican National Committee issued a swift reply, calling the Democratic comments "cheap pot shots."

In a press release sent out by the committee Thursday morning (May 29), spokesperson Kiara Pesante described the conference line-up as a smorgasbord that ranged from presidential candidates to "conspiracy theorists." The release blasted RNC Chairman Reince Priebus, who speaks at the conference Thursday evening, as the man responsible for "the party's failed rebrand effort," and highlighted the presence of Phil Robertson, controversial patriarch of the "Duck Dynasty" family, whom the release described as a "cause celebre that came after Joe the Plumber."

"This is a group of GOP leaders that are famous for things like shutting down the government, believing that employers should be able to limit health care options for women and question where the President was born," the release says.

More at http://www.nola.com/politics/index.ssf/2014/05/democrat_call_republican_leade.html#incart_m-rpt-2 .

The full press release:

Last year, Governor Bobby Jindal famously (or infamously) proclaimed that the GOP should, "stop being the stupid party."

Today, Governor Jindal will help kick off the Republican Leadership Conference's annual gathering of party leaders, conspiracy theorists and past and future presidential candidates.

Speaking alongside Jindal today includes RNC Chairman Reince Priebus who has overseen the party's failed rebrand effort and Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson (the GOP's cause celebre that came after Joe the Plummer [sic] and before Cliven Bundy).

And not to be outdone on their first 24 hours - in the coming days, the conference is slated to hear from the likes of Donald Trump, Allen West, Rick Santorum, Rick Perry, Ted Cruz, Dinesh D'Souza and many more. This is a group of GOP leaders that are famous for things like shutting down the government, believing that employers should be able to limit health care options for women and question where the President was born.

In short - the RLC is a massive gathering of 'the stupid party.'

But the problem with this gathering isn't just the speakers, it's the policies that they're fighting for that are hurting the economic well-being of Americans.

Just look at Bobby Jindal's record. Here are a few of the low-lights from Governor Jindal's time in office:

· Forbes ranks Louisiana 40th in the list of the best states to do business, 48th in quality of life and 46th in growth prospects.
· The state lags near the bottom for high school graduation rates.
· According to the Census Bureau, Louisiana has the second highest poverty rate in the nation.

And while Jindal's speaking at the conference, his state's legislature is nearing the end of their legislative session without a budget for next year.

Republicans like Jindal may not want to be seen as the 'stupid party' - but that won't change as long as their out-of-touch rhetoric matches their out-of-touch policies.

But what do they need Donald Trump for, he is nothing but trouble and he is not really even rich. What does he add to this party besides idiocy?

Doesn't this go along with most conservatives being overly fearful and not accepting of change. I believe recent studies also showed that they were of lower IQ.

I worry about branding people that are truly conservative - meaning caring about conservation, with the broad brush that includes people that have a hard time getting to grips with reality.

Political conservative in the USofA equates to being bought and paid for by someone who knows what they are doing.

Wasn't their pin-up girl, $arah PayMe supposed to attend? Huckerbee demands $15,000 per attendance, so he is out, too expensive. Whenever I think of Jindal, I remember when he came out to give the rebuttal to President Obama's State of the Union. It looked like a spoof from SNL, he came creeping out from behind the door. Total failure. Even Santorum (I wanna be Pope) said "We will never attract the smart, intelligent people" So right, Ricky!!

They could care less about you and me. It's all about them. They spread hate and fear on a daily basis. And now they have a collection of total idiots in one place, to again, spread the word that they are right, and we are wrong, on everything. Let us shutdown the government again. Let us stomp all over women's rights. The list goes on and on. Why anyone follows this idiocy is beyond me.

They will fail in 2014 and again in 2016. Hopefully it will be the end of the GOP.

Frankly, this rhetoric is mild compared to the words I'd use to describe the GOP, a party that deserves to go the way of the dinosaurs. And with buffoons like Jindal and Perry being prominent members, that party's end will arrive very soon in the near future.

Have these douche bags listen to themselves? That's all they're capable of doing. They sound like out of work comedians failing an audition.
Here are some cheap shots:
Grifterella of the frozen tundra is better suited to leaning up against a lamp post, clutching a beaded bag, wearing smeared lipstick, net stockings, and spiked heels while trolling for sailors on shore leave.
Donald Frump is the king of the hideous wigs and should take the eyes out of that thing before putting it on his head.
Reinhold Reince Priebus is like an annoying dog that bites people's ankles, the kind of dog people want to kick.
The whirring sound in the background is Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Everett Dirkson, and Eisenhower spinning in their graves

They are cheap because the Republicans make it so easy. Donald Trump, Allen West, Rick Santorum, Rick Perry, Ted Cruz, Dinesh D'Souza? C'mon guys. These don't invite cheap shots. These are FREE shots.

25. Hello McCamy,

I'm not living in the Metroplex currently. I was in Irving after my family sold our father's home, but I couldn't find a job and had numerous health issues (diabetes, chronic anemia, manic depression and podiatry problems) so I had to leave the area in March. I'm living with my brother in a one bedroom apartment in Wharton (SW of Houston) and trying to either find a job or get SSDI so I regain my independence. It's difficult to explain why I'm unemployed since I have a strong resume and a college education, but I've gone through so many challenges recently from the overdose attempt in early April to living in a homeless shelter. However, it's been a long time since I've felt like I fit in anywhere.

It is extremely difficult living with my brother since we usually end up in a fight about once a week. I'm trying to help my brother file job applications and for unemployment benefit checks since my computer and organizational skills are stronger than his. I'm still looking statewide for employment with my preferred locations as DFW and Austin. I don't believe that I've read about any DU meetings in Dallas, but I know that a few members have met in Fort Worth. However, if I see that I'm going to the Metroplex soon I'll try to post a thread and see if anyone is interested in meeting. I've had quite a bit of interaction with several DUers online through the Texas Group and it would be nice to get acquainted since DU has been my lifeline and social outlet for the last three years.

I seriously doubt the Kochs are open to giving in on their ideals to attract the younger votes.
Their Tea Party movement hurt the GOP—and was that moving backwards, or what?
