Republicans could totally impeach Obama if they wanted to!
http://mediamatters.org/blog/2014/06/03/five-years-of-conservatives-calling-for-obamas/199555
They could. Totally. Anytime. Legal issues are on their side and the sooner Obama is gone, the better. But they won't impeach him. Because, if they impeach Obama while his approval-ratings are high, then this would make them look like partisan assholes. Also, he's black.

1. What?! He's BLACK!?
Oh no! The country is in deep shit! Hide the women and children! A black man is running the country!
And may I say that he is running the country fairly well. And of course the repukes are partisan assholes. Not to mention bigoted partisan assholes. |

I wonder if any Democrats voted with them. I remember that time. I don't think we want a repeat of it.

7. I remember that time too.
They screwed up and old time party members know it. They are not going to attempt to impeach Obama. I mean when cock roaches are more popular than Congress, to attempt impeachment would be political suicide for repukes.

Personally if I could I'd hand them enough rope to hang themselves and I'd do it with a smile on my face.

3. I thought that they don't care about being PC
They're concerned about appearing "racist" NOW?
If they have a case (or think they have one) there's really no excuse for them not to do it. The law is the law, right? They don't have a legally/politically defensible case and they know it and they know that they will suffer at the polls if they try but then again if they are supposed to be duty bound to uphold the law, so push the button already! |

4. meh, its a simple vote to impeach
has nothing to do with legal or illegal actions by the President. That might be a reason, someday. Not needed.
- removal is done after impeachment...by the Senate ( if they agree). - I think that is how it goes. |

But the Senate will not convict.

14. Impeachment is easy for a Republican House. Conviction, not so easy.
Because, if they impeach Obama while his approval-ratings are high, ? They're not especially high right now, but that should not affect impeachment anyway, one way or the other. Either they have reason to impeach or they don't. That's all that should guide them. Sadly, the motives of our elected representatives are not always that....unmixed. More often than not, their guiding principle is feathering their own nests. |

22. Impeach a Ham Sandwich
The house could easily Impeach Obama simply because majority rules. I also believe that if they were going to impeach Obama this is the time to do it because it is an off year election and they can play to their Tea Party base. Even if the senate was under Republican control there is no way they would get the 75 votes needed for conviction. The question is would Bohner or Cantor even allow an impeachment motion to move forward onto the House floor. We have to remember that it is the goal of the republican party to wipe Barak Obamas Presidency from the history books.

33. one thing that will spur democratic turnout in 2014 elections will be this kind of talk
and if that happens, democrats could see taking more seats in the Senate and retaking the House
so part of me really like to see this talk ramp up...it will rally the democratic base and if that happens, GOP has little chance in novemeber to pick up seats |

34. I like Obama
I think Obama has done most things right during his first five years. The Rs yell the "I" word and the news picks up on it. That's all you hear and see. Would the Rs do it? I hope so as it would destroy the Republican party for a generation. Look at what happened to Clinton. Impeached, but found not guilty. R approval rating down to zilch. Obama? Try it, Rs. I really want you to. It's an election season. Stir up your base and you will lose all the independents in the election and you will say goodbye to your right wing congress people too. Do it. I really want you to. I'll bet the Rs will turn on a dime and again start yelling Benghazi or Bergdahl. They have absolutely nothing to offer the country.
Then, let's get Hillary or Elizabeth to run. |

36. Because the impeachment of Clinton worked so well
Impeaching is one thing.
But they do not have the votes in the Senate to remove him from office. Even if the GOP managed to win every single Democrat held senate seat in the 2014 midterm election they still would NOT have enough votes to impeach Bush unless several democrats also crossed over. But I'm not even worried about that happening because 20 of those dem seats up for re-election are in some very very blue states like Massachusetts, Delaware, Hawaii and New Jersey where it would be almost impossible for republicans to win. |

39. There's no reason to impeach.
That'll motivate us right before the 2014 elections. No chance they do this. If they win the Senate, they MIGHT do the nuclear option and change the rules to a simple majority vote, but I doubt it. Obama would be a lame duck, why risk it?
