Women who sit tonight, still reeling from this numbing blow, & made less than, by five men who hold their female futures & those of all daughters born & yet to be, must take a bit of comfort in knowing there are also good & wiser men who stand next to them in fighting the fears of what may someday come, if this assault does not stop here & now.
So very much is at stake in the next two elections.
In the election of 2014 & 2016 it is critical that if we must fight together, men & women, for only one single cause, that this is it.
I believe that these elections are the last we will have to repair the damage done. If we fail at either, the powers we are up against will continue rewriting the laws of this Nation, so there will be little chance of recovery in the future.
With today's SC rulings we have reached critical mass in regard to our civil, constitutional & human rights.
I believe this is just the beginning, & the fate of our Nation is being gradually morphed into Saudi Arabia.
We either stop it with these next two elections or we let it slip away.
The events of today should be the bold writing on the wall for every man & woman who feel betrayed.
We all have been.
VOTE like your life depends on it. Change the direction we are being forced to follow after today.
All I have left to say tonight. I am out of words.
And very sad & fearful.
Night all.

(snip) 1968 precedent in which the owner of a chain of barbecue restaurants in South Carolina refused to serve black patrons based on his religious beliefs opposing racial integration.
Worth A Read..discrimination against race, then, and gender now with this SC decision.
The Religious Right came about when a reason to Legally Discriminate was needed. "Its against my religion" became their mantra to do so.
This is what we are up against. Again & again & again.
However, this time, they seem to have the Supreme Court majority on their side.
This is an ominous read & it turns my "WTF?" from yesterday's decision into a "OMG the dots connect" and somehow knowing this now just takes yesterday's fear to another level.
They will stop at nothing. Care for no one, and have no issue holding people's very soul hostage to achieve their dreadful goal.
One Religion, One Rule. Saudi Arabia & Sharia Law is no different than what we find ourselves staring at this day.
Yes a Think Tank & Contact Network for Action is actually the only way out of this thing that is determined to swallow American Democracy whole.

(9,148 posts)The current radical SCOTUS has gutted the voting rights act, done everything possible to allow unlimited political contributions, and now theyve made women subservient to the religious views of the majority of American employers.
So heres the question: What do we do now?

(9,148 posts)WASHINGTON (AP) The Supreme Court on Tuesday confirmed that its decision a day earlier extending religious rights to closely held corporations applies broadly to the contraceptive coverage requirement in the new health care law, not just the handful of methods the justices considered in their ruling.
Hobby Lobby Deserves some serious BLOWBACK on this. They certainly knew yesterday what the decision meant. NOT just 2 forms of bc.
This needs to go as viral as yesterdays news did.
Were they hoping no one would notice & just resume shopping at Hobby Lobby, believing that they only were against 2 forms of bc? Now we find out it was actually all contraception, the decision ruled on by the SC.
We have again been taken for stupid fools that will have no say in our lives. It is decided by Corporations & set into law by their lackeys in the Supreme Court.

(9,148 posts)The Zeroth Amendment: The Basis of All "Modern" Conservative Jurisprudence
SNIP.. In other words, we have to step back from the zombie attitude that the Constitution is whatever the Court says it is, and state unequivocally that when their decisions are so far removed from reason, jurisprudence, and the rights of the people that they are effectively creating their own secessionist state via their decisions, we have to take the position that we reject these decisions - not merely "opine" that they are wrong. Because they are not merely wrong, they are fundamentally outside the Court's purview. The Zeroth Amendment, folks, is the seed of right-wing totalitarianism that they've tried to plant without having to win elections or pass Amendments, but simply to put five people on the Supreme Court who will interpret it into existence and strike down any law challenging it.
