Punishing the "Shameless Hussy" is at the heart of denying contraceptives to women.

Let's get right to it. Many religious people and other conservatives think that contraceptives are used by promiscuous, single women. And that "allowing" them contraceptives contribute to their shameful ways. That's the philosophy behind this case and this decision.

The truth is that women use contraceptives for other health reasons besides contraception, and logically, the heaviest users of birth control are MARRIED WOMEN who have regular sex with their HUSBANDS.

We're living in regressive culture that's backed by the greedy 1% who side with the regressives so that they can protect their wealth.

and certainly one the right-winger talkers are happy to harangue about, but it goes deeper.

It's also about not allowing women to have any control over their own bodies, or over the number of children they have. Only God and men should have any say in those decisions. It's about power and control and patriarchy.

I think all Shameless Hussies, both men and women, should buy whatever contraception they want.
Everyone from married women, women with medical conditions, to the absolutely most promiscuous should have access to contraception. I think men should pay for half of it...women don't have sex by themselves. You know, the way we split the check...this month it's my turn to pay. Next month, your turn.

Which is a face-palm if there ever was one. A bit unclear on the concept.

But yes, it is about sex. They do not like what they call "consequence-free" sex. Which is never really, but the consequence they mean is a baby you might not want, as punishment for sex you should not be having.

That was a simple partisan assault on the president and party that passed ACA.

The oppression of women was just a convenient carrying handle for the rubes who always cheer that sort of thing. The Hobby Lobbyists have been and remain perfectly happy profiting from investment in abortion and contraception.

But slut-shaming makes the case more than just political. For the quasi-religious bigots among us, the slut-shaming makes it FUN.
