They're relentless
THEY never give up. THEY’RE never satisfied. THEY want a world in which THEIR fantasies are reality. THEY want a world in which decency is an alien concept.
Who are THEY? THEY are the darker side of existence. THEY are those who oppose everything in which decent people believe. THEY are those who are devoid of basic humanity.
THEY are a collection of the ignorant, the bigots, the greedy, the haters, the witch hunters, the extremely selfish, and the grotesque misfits of our species. And, THEY are also, unfortunately, those who can be convinced to act against their own self interests.
Perhaps the American version of the THEMS can be better defined by what THEY are against. THEY are against black, brown, yellow and red people. THEY are against anyone who isn’t a “Christian” by some insane interpretation of Christianity. THEY are against women’s rights. THEY are against GLBTs. THEY are against fair wages. THEY are against unions. THEY are against universal voting rights. THEY are against any form of fairness. THEY are against any conceivable concept of human decency.
So who are THEY today in this country? C’mon, this is DU. Fill in the blanks.
America today seems to be a demonstration of how easy if is for cruelty and meanness of spirit to triumph over conscience and the common good.
Perhaps, some day, all humans will choose to take a different path. Perhaps, some day, we will live in a world that so many have dreamt of, but that never seems to come about.
Maybe, those of us here on DU can start to make a difference. There is so much generosity of spirit here. Why don't we do all we can to put it to good use? How about we, together, try to make the world just a little bit better? How to do that is up to each of us individually.
