Was the war in Iraq worth it? That was the inane CBS News/The New York Times poll question asked a few days ago. 75% responded with a resounding “no.” The other 25% probably still believe WMD’s are hidden there somewhere, yet to be discovered, along with giant aluminum tubes disguised as palm trees.

Its no surprise the majority of Americans feel the effort in Iraq was pointless. As of last week, almost 5,000 Iraqis died as a result of ISIS/DAASH violence (counting both civilians and militants). This militant uprising, with its vicious roadside executions and threats of terrorist attacks against the US, is horrible, but hardly surprising. After a decade of US-style shock and awe, what else should we expect?

Did anybody (outside of Fox “News” fanatics) really believe we could blast into Baghdad with flesh-melting white phosphorous, carpet bombs, and land mines disguised as food packages, and we would actually be welcomed with flowers? That we would be seen as liberators?

9. A week ago I had never even heard of Pallas cats, now I want one to come and kick our cat's asses

They really aren't very well behaved, they wake up at 4 AM and holler until somebody gets up and feeds them, and if you don't get up fast enough, they will jump on your bed and paw your face until you do. And it doesn't do any good to just throw them on the floor, they think it's a game and jump back up there and start over.

If all else fails one of them will stand out in the hall and pretend to puke, knowing that will make us jump out there and grab them before they throw up on a rug or something. Then once we're up they start squawking and that usually wears us down.

There's nothing we can do to alter these cat's behavior, they are 15 years old and all they do is eat, poop and sleep. The addition of a mean, kick ass Pallas cat into the dynamic might make our lives a bit easier.
