Obama Sets A Trap By Flat Out Telling Boehner and The Republicans, Sue me.

President Obama is setting a trap for John Boehner and the House Republicans, as during his remarks on the economy, the president had a simple message for Boehner, sue me.
Video:
The president said:
And they criticize me for this. Boehner sued me for this. And I told him, Id rather do things with you, pass some laws, make sure the Highway Trust Fund is funded so we dont lay off hundreds of thousands of workers. Its not that hard. Middle-class families cant wait for Republicans in Congress to do stuff. So sue me. As long as theyre doing nothing, Im not going to apologize for trying to do something.
And look, I just want to be clear Republicans in Congress, theyre patriots, they love their country, they love their families. They just have a flawed theory of the economy that they cant seem to get past. They believe that all we should be doing is giving more tax breaks to those at the top, eliminating regulations that stop big banks or polluters from doing what they want, cut the safety net for people trying to work their way into the middle class, and then somehow the economy is going to get stronger and jobs and prosperity trickle down to everybody. Thats their worldview. Im sure they sincerely believe it. Its just not accurate. It does not work.
I am starting to suspect that even John Boehner can smell the trap that is being set. Earlier in the day, it looked like the president was intentionally trying to bait the Speaker of the House into suing him by announcing that he was directing his cabinet to find more areas where he could act unilaterally.
President Obama would love nothing more than for Boehner to follow through on his threat and file the lawsuit against him. The lawsuit has given Obama the opportunity to discuss Republican obstruction. His administrative actions are making Democrats look like they are the only party that is remotely interested in doing anything for the American people, while candidates across the country can hammer Republican incumbents for their symphony of obstruction.

(53,661 posts)President Obama Taunts Boehner: 'So Sue Me!'
Published on Jul 1, 2014
On Tuesday afternoon, President Barack Obama continued his streak of railing against Republican "obstructionism" in Congress, taunting the rival party for "doing nothing" while threatening legal action against the president to curb executive authority.
Speaking near the Key Bridge in Washington, D.C., Obama implored Congress to continue funding for the Federal Highway Trust Fund, and suggested that the political system is currently rigged in favor of those who aren't in need, by those lawmakers who refuse to take action.

(20,899 posts)are patriots who love their country when their entire agenda is obstructionist (traitorous), wholly detrimental to the general welfare, and otherwise belies these sentiments: the best that can be said about the lot of them imo is they are rat-fuckers.

(429 posts)when he says 'republicans are patriots, they love their country...' The hell they do! All they love is money and power for themselves and to make the 99% as poor as they can, to break their will so they will be forced to take any job and live anywhere just so they can survive. What they really want is eugenics, they want to thin the heard. Republicans are simply evil bastards. They want more and more of everything for them and they want the 99% to just die off. Thats the republican philosophy and also the majority of the 'supreme courts' philosophy as well.

(16,925 posts)Can you imagine what others in the past would have done?
Can you see "W" standing there at the State of the Union and having someone yelling out to him, "you lie!"
Cheney would have invited him on a hunting trip the very next day!
"Sue me?"
Nixon would have had that person on his "hate list" so fast and the IRS would have been chasing him into a cell block so fast he'd not even have time to call "FAUX NEWS!"
