Murrietta Breaks my heart...

Watching this demonstration in Murrietta is so disheartening...

Thankfully someone else greeted the buses when they got back to San Diego and a different side of Americana was shown by the Border Angels.

http://borderangels.org/ is a little overloaded right now, but if you can give any resources to these people who showed a better side of US it seems like it would go a long way to help.

Hundreds of emails and phone calls from people willing to help the families have come in to San Diego according to Morones.

He has even received a call from a woman living in Hawaii offering to house someone.

Among those who spoke at Wednesday's news conference was Rev. Dr. Beth Johnson with Palomar Unitarian who called for people to find compassion for those seeking help from the U.S.

“Each and every person has inherent worth and dignity,” Johnson said. “Let us be the people that reach out in love and that stand on the side of love.”

We lived in Murrieta for a dozen years; it IS very socially conservative (we're out in the county in Romoland now).

Here's Beth -

... my friends, is the first thing I thought of when this news broke.

Today I was reminded of Selma Alabama's fine upright citizens screaming at children as they entered public school.

I feel ashamed for my country.

I'm so glad that I caught the clip about Border Angels giving these women and children a much better reception...

And it looks like more people were willing to be kind and generous than those hateful people that were yelling at children yesterday.

FAIR--Federation for American Immigration Reform--is notorious for doing crap like this and for developing anti-immigrant legislation like Arizona's "papers, please" law.

The move is being planned right now with the children scheduled to arrive by the end of the month. These will be children without accompanying parents or older family members. This is a move on the part of the city and county governments and local charities. Many individual people have also volunteered to help. This is not the first Dallas has stepped up to the plate to help. After Hurricane Katrina, Dallas took in thousands of New Orleans refugees.

Firing up loonies is easy. Anyone can do that. It's the police failure that's tragic--and criminal.
