(29,149 posts)it's not as though elder abuse doesn't happen, or as though people don't take advantage of the mentally ill (if the woman is, in fact, mentally ill), or as though people don't abuse their housekeepers, nannies, etc. And, given the various suggestions I've seen offered (here and elsewhere), for getting rid of the nanny, it's not as though it's all that wild that the family might think giving her nothing but dog food would drive her out.
All that is not to say that lady couldn't be entirely in the wrong in this particular case, of course ...
