Awesome video of the SE Arizona "Radio Fire" (a lightning start from7/2)

South end of the Whetstone Mountains, southeast of Tucson, AZ. The initial size-up was 30 acres burning in light fuels. It is now at 1260 acres in grass and brush.

from halfway between Cascabel and Pomerene on the Cascabel Highway.

I was pretty certain it was a lightning strike.

The good news is that the monsoons have arrived... bringing rain to SouthEast Arizona.

The bad news is that the rain clouds have a lot of lightning... and this can result.

SE AZ had over 3000 strikes today (7/3), but with widespread heavy rains. I had over 1.25" on Mt. Lemmon! There will be new starts showing tomorrow morning, for sure. But with the monsoon here with a vengeance, fire season is over (I hope!).
