He's had a good week. The job numbers were great. I just read that Putin wishes Obama happy July 4th and calls for closer Russian-US ties. If things like this were happening to a Repub president - the MSM and fellow Repubs would be shouting this to everyone and their popularity would be through the roof.
But we're talking President Obama here and it seems like MSM wants to keep him down.
It's amazing to me what President Obama has been able to accomplish with his hands tied behind his back by Congress & the Repubs. We need to help the President along and talk him up. He deserves better than he's been getting.
It's unfortunate that this is a Holiday weekend and everyone is focused on themselves because the good job news goes by kind of silently and as a result - he can't really bask in that glory.

(51,076 posts)I thought we were well on our way until that fateful day in November of 08 when Our man won over their curmudgeon.
As old as I am I doubt I'll ever see racial equality. That makes me sad

(14,449 posts)That is destroying the poor. It is obscene what the poor have to pay for gas. I know I pay the same but it doesn't hurt as much as the poor folks.

(46,179 posts)Instead of focused on praising the POTUS.
I'm focused on figuring out a way to keep paying the mortgage, myself.
And focused on how to pay for critical repairs.
Whatever.
I'll be celebrating when I, and all of those struggling around me, have a good week. So, in that context, yes, I'm focused on myself.
I'm not, though, out partying and forgetting to throw glory at the POTUS.
For the record:
1. 4th of July is a kind of inconvenient "holiday" for me. Business that I need to take care of can't get done. But...no big deal. I'll do it Monday. As far as celebrating our "Independence," I don't. I don't celebrate bombs bursting in mid-air; I'm not in favor of bombs or bombing. I figure that, if the Revolution had failed, at least I'd have national health insurance.
2. "The numbers..." How many ways can numbers be interpreted? My region is still economically depressed. There ARE a few more low-wage jobs out there, though. Why? They were created when our biggest local retailers cut hours to 28 per week because they aren't going to pay for health insurance benefits. So yes, fewer people are collecting unemployment checks. More people are making less.
3. Accomplishments? I'm not going to say what I think anyone deserves for RTTT, for Arne Duncan, for TPP, and more. The accomplishments are staggering, true, but not in a good way.
But go right ahead. Try to explain why it's not about all those focused on themselves, but is supposed to be all about Barack Obama. Because the point of being President is not to serve the needs of the many, but to be enveloped in glory.

My DIL didn't lose her job, but she, and everyone else, DID get their hours cut to 28 per week; she's been scrambling for another part time job to make up the difference.
