The Top 10 Beer Drinking States

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/07/04/beer_n_5558782.html

Here's the list, highest first:

1. North Dakota
2. New Hampshire
3. Montana
4. South Dakota
5. Vermont
6. Wisconsin
7. Nevada
8. Maine
9. Nebraska
10. Iowa

Hmmm...the Upper Midwest and New England really like their suds. They also rank high in other alcohol indicators.

Plenty more at the link.

That's more than 60 gallons a yearfor WI households and requires most WI homes to have a 2nd and customized refrigerator in the garage or basement.

Of course, it may be spurious. Those states with lowest crime rates are all among the least populous and most rural in the US.

Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Montana, Iowa, and the Dakotas are all more than 50% rural:

Five of those states are in the top ten of having the highest % of German Americans in the U.S.

Thanks for the thread, Comrade Grumpy.

My preferences ran more towards, erm, fru-fru drinks. Strawberry margaritas, pina coladas, and various sorts of cider, although there was a period where I tried out a lot of single malts. Nowadays, I'm pretty close to a tee-totaller, though not for any really dogmatic reasons. (good tasting) Alcohol is too expensive, and you can do 'virgin' versions that taste pretty much just as good. Plus, I haven't been on the dating scene for a decade and a half, so there's none of that spending time in bars any more.
