Girl Injured in Pitbull Attack to Be Fitted for Prosthetic Eye

(CNN) -- Victoria Wilcher -- the 3-year-old Mississippi girl whose family claimed was asked to leave KFC because of her appearance -- will be fitted for a prosthetic eye.

Victoria, who lost sight in her right eye and was left with severe facial scars after a pit bull attack, will meet with Raymond Peters, an ocularist who hopes to outfit her with a prosthetic eye this week at his office in Naples, Florida.

Peters said he doesn't care about the controversy surrounding what her family said happened to her at KFC. He just wants to help a child in need.

"That's another world as far as I am concerned. That's not going to affect me with how I help the child," he said of the KFC incident. "I am focused on this child, and if that did happen, it's sad because it is a double tragedy for the child."

And why I am disgusted with the people who fight so damn hard to defend them. Some person on here challenged me to meet with a pit bull in a rescue. I will do that right after they meet with this poor girl and tell her it is not the breed that did this too her ( after all, a poodle could have attacked her instead).

She was always defending them saying it wasn't the breed but the owners that caused them to attack and have a bad rep. She was so good to her dog. Loved him like crazy, trained him really well. After three years of love and togetherness one day for no reason whatsoever her pit bull bit her. Cause y'know it's the owners not the breed. I cannot tell you how hard it was to not say anything.

and the husband got up in the middle of the night for a glass of milk, and it nearly ripped his leg off. It was a very sweet dog up until that incident and they are nice people. The dog was put down.

You can't have something in your home that will attack you without reason.

No matter what did or didn't take place, this child deserves a chance at a more normal life. Poor little thing, she's a victim all the way around.

It will make her school years easier, kids are such little savages.

I don't care if the KFC thing was blown out of proportion. I'd just like to see that little girl helped to live a more normal life.

Pit bulls are usually very sweet dogs. Unfortunately, they're just unpredictable enough that I would never have one in a home with children under 10 because they do so much terrible damage when they do get provoked and bite.

I'm glad someone has his head screwed on straight and just saw a child in need instead of worrying about all the controversy. Society could learn a lesson from this man if they cared to notice.
