Geologists: 2,547 Earthquakes In Oklahoma Linked To Fracking

Geologists have confirmed what many have suspected for years: earthquakes that rattled central Oklahoma was the direct result of fracking and waste water injection, according to a newly released study. A team of geologists from Cornell University, the University of Colorado, Columbia University and the United States Geological Survey released the study last week which makes a direct link between high-pressure waste water injection at four hydraulic fracturing sites southeast of Oklahoma City to an unprecedented 2,547 small earthquakes near the small town of Jones.

I'm happy to be back in my home state so I'm not having a lot of sympathy for Oklahoma because they even have a functioning oil well in front of the State Capitol building. I am very happy that oil companies have been called out on just one component of the damage inflicted by fracking. I can only hope that fracking will be stopped in my beautiful Montana.

I lived in NE Oklahoma for 12 years( 1974 to 1985) and the was never any news about earthquakes. Almost as soon as the fracking goes into high gear the earthquakes start.
