If you go Nazi, don't settle for anything less than FULL Nazi...

Walmart Thinks This Horrifying Poster Would Look Great in Your Home or Office

The news: Walmart has apologized to its customers after it realized that it was accidentally selling a poster depicting the Nazi concentration camp of Dachau on its website. Complete with a sign prominently displaying the infamous "Arbeit Macht Frei" slogan, the piece was billed as "a great addition to your home or office."

Eeeesh. Unless you work at the Holocaust Museum or your favorite movie is Apt Pupil, it's hard to see why anyone would want this creepy and distasteful poster.

The problem: The "Arbeit Macht Frei" slogan translates to "work makes you free" and was located on the front gate of Dachau, a Bavarian Nazi concentration camp that held Jews, political prisoners, foreigners and run-of-the-mill criminals. Over 200,000 people were imprisoned at Dachau and up to 41,500 of them died. The phrase also appeared at other Nazi work and extermination camps, including Auschwitz I and Gross-Rosen.

According to Digiday, Amazon and Sears also listed and then pulled down the item, suggesting it came from a common distributor. Sears' mistake may have been even worse than Walmart's: writer Jennifer Mendelsohn tweeted that the Sears listing that came with suggestions for “similar items” included double wall ovens.

But I've got the distinct impression that some folks in the younger generations aren't quite sure just how bad the Nazis were.

Some place where the unrelenting work ethic trumps everything, including any knowledge of, or appreciation for, the darkest chapters of human history?

I worked at a place or two like that. The pay seemed alright at the time, but it didn't begin to cover the emotional damage I still deal with, years later. "Work makes you free." Yeah, right.....

That is what actually bothers me, that any commercial entity felt this was a good idea as a mass marketed tchotcke for the wall..

They were accidentally selling the poster? My Ass

It is their fucking website with listings by sellers they approved. They are responsible for everything on it.

In order of disgusting, from low to high:
-the poster was sold on these companies' web sites

-the non-apology-blame-passing excuses the companies gave for items they were selling under their names

-that such a poster is sold for decoration purposes (sadly I am a better researcher than ABC. They stated "It was not immediately known who created and marketed the poster." I found the source on my first try using information in the Walmart ad. They have 104 Dachau related posters for sale)

bombed churches, and lynch mobs; along with a selective pieces depicting the "Trail of Tears" or shackled Africans in slave boats? You know, "work makes you free".

Corporations depicting just how evil and disgusting they really are. There are people around the world who would buy that crap, including many fringed, unhinged people in this country who would proudly display it proudly among their collections of other hateful insignia (confederate flag, SS arm bands, and photos of their militia group playing "military&quot and of course, it would all be in the same bunker as their massive collection of weapons.

I believe they knew what they were doing, put the selection on the web site in obscurity, rather than the public store setting, and hoped that people wouldn't notice what the poster depicted or the message hidden behind a foreign language. AND seriously, Sears is trying to claim that they didn't know what it was displaying when a item of interest to buy along with it would be double ovens?!?! Ha, ha so very funny.

And in all honesty, WTF? Multiple companies selling the same hateful, nasty poster and then trying to claim stupid? They must know their basic customers tend to be redneck, rural, and fearful of the govt, all the while, collecting their SNAP benefits and disability checks.

Oh, and these people aren't classified as terrorists? I'm more likely to be harmed by one of these loon's than I am by a Muslim Extremist; especially living in FL! Some of them would run me off the road because they spotted my Obama 44 sticker if I lived a bit more north and rural.

be sued for this on some human rights charge? Who in the fuck distributed this abomination? I want someone hurt financially over this one. Walmart? Sears? I'm getting soooo sick of the bigotry and ignorance that has infected american culture. And the RW is responsible for agitating this shit through their MSM tools. Geez. Where is the mass fucking outrage???? The responses at the link make this seem so innocuous. Isn't that how it starts. "Oh, they are harmless. So what if they all have brown shirts on, so what. Oh so they burned a cross next door, they are harmless idiots. Yeah, right. It slowly creeps into culture and the infection is soon systemic.
