Aviation Mystery

I get alerts from Flightradar.com. Tonight I got one showing a Swiss air ambulance on a flight from Zurich to Beirut. It changed its transponder to emergency (7700). It proceeded south more than 1,000 miles beyond its destination to Abu Naklah air base in Qatar. While it was squawking emergency it was descending at rates up to 3,000 feet per minute. It changed its squawk to 5051 and landed at a base that has nothing but U.S. military aircraft (B-1, P-3, C-17, etc.). Does this have anything to do with Guantanamo releases?
