Ask for $1 trillion or more to do this. Make them put up or shut up on this. Any money appropriated to build such a fence would put a lot of Americans to work - give them jobs building the fence. A lot of construction materials would be needed to build a fence too. It would be a stimulant to the economy and certainly would help the jobs numbers. Wouldn't that be a boon to the poor and middle class and greatly help the President's poll numbers and popularity.
Of course I'm being sarcastic here and taking this to an extreme. But the Repubs have been asking for better border control - so again - make them put up or shut up.
I'm sure if President Obama proposed this - they would shoot it down somehow - just because he proposed it and they can't go along with anything he wants.
So then - if they turn down such a fence - make them come up with a solution to deal with this problem.
I'm getting real tired of the President taking the blame for the inaction of the Repubs in the Congress. We keep hearing that the President is not doing his job - but - it is clear that Congress is not doing its job. Why aren't we hearing more criticism of that? Why is Congress getting a pass?
The President can't really take bold definitive action on this border crisis. If he does so without Congress - let's say by Executive Action - then they say he's overstepping his bounds and lawsuits ensue.
Certainly the solution for this rests right in the lap of Congress - but John Boehner fails to take it up. Why isn't there pressure on him and the Repubs to take this up in the House.
I'm getting more and more frustrated every day - especially when I hear from a friend and now former Obama supporter - saying that this is all Obama's fault. He says - I now know that Obama had his finest moments as campaigner and first Black President...I bet history judges him harshly. All he is now trying to do is raise money for his party, burnish his legacy and otherwise not care about sullying his sleeves by doing anything meaningful.
I know he's being conditioned to think this by the MSM. It's so hard to hear this from a once staunch Obama supporter. I'm wondering how many more staunch Obama supporters are being influenced so negatively?

Can't forget Alaska or Hawaii either, gotta make sure that those pesky Russians or Pacific Islanders don't try to sneak in.

However, it would be a great jobs programs and both countries could contribute to building it. We could wall ourselves off from the rest of the Americas. After all, good walls make good neighbors...
