Beyonce Has Quietly Given $7 Million To Homeless In Hometown Of Houston

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/07/09/beyonce-hometown-houston_n_5570609.html

After keeping one of the biggest albums of the past year completely under-wraps from millions of adoring fans, the Texas-born superstar is at the center of another well-kept covert mission — and this one will probably make you fall further in love with her.

Beyonce has quietly given $7 million throughout the past few years to the Knowles-Temenos Place Apartments in her hometown of Houston, as KHOU 11 News reported. Beyonce launched the complex in 2007 in response to the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Knowles-Temenos Place Apartments has space available for 43 individuals, and houses men and women who otherwise would likely be homeless. The facility supports its residents by providing meals, job readiness training, HIV/AIDS screenings and case management services, with an overall goal for residents to reach full self-sufficiency.

“She’s an incredible human being," Rev. Rudy Rasmus, who unearthed Beyonce's selfless donations to the public, told KHOU 11 News. He married Beyonce to rapper Jay-Z in 2008 and has worked personally with the singer in her efforts to help Houston's homeless. "She has an incredible heart and has been extremely helpful in our mission and our ministry here.”

14. No, because conservatives believe in private charity. Some Lefties, otoh, have a hard time....

....a really hard time, giving credit where it is due when wealthy people give of their wealth. It's never enough, in their eyes. It should always be more, and we should have proof that they have given away so much that they are forced to live as humbly as the rest of us.

If you think I've got this wrong, just read in this thread for an example. Or look up any of the Clinton-obsessed threads of the past few weeks. Or any time the name of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation comes up.

The thing about the conservatives believing in private charity is one of those double-edged swords, because they believe that government shouldn't have a part in social welfare and that it could/should be handled by individuals and individual foundations alone.

baffling. Someone does good, and it gets no "appreciation". A troll gets banned, and a 700 post thread ensues. What's the world coming to?

5. Perhaps it's because many people do kind and good things and give more than they have

yet get little to no recognition. Those people do things without applause or even a thank you. They do it out of the goodness of their hearts and give all they can, often not taking a tax writeoff. Many DUers try to go out of their way to applaud them, not just the rich & famous.

9. Um...Beyonce made $95 million dollars last year alone

She and Jay Z are estimated to be worth $1 Billion dollars. This is well below the percentage for charitable donation tax deductions. All rich people do it to some extent. It's accounting 101. While I think it's nice and all, essentially saving money on your taxes doesn't make me stand up and cheer. I doubt Bey will be missing a meal. But you know what, I know people who do to help someone else out. Let's see some stories about them; sadly, they don't have top-level PR firms "quietly" leaking their gifts.

And yes, I'm not singling her out in particular. We get all these Press Releases about how saintly and wonderful the rich and famous are. It's a propaganda campaign to make sure we know who are betters are. They are just people like the rest of us, and should feel the warmth of being generous in their own hearts and not need kudos to keep on doing good things.

10. This is just the charity we've learned about. How the hell do you know what else they do?

And why is it your damn business what they do with their money? Why don't you take that high minded, sanctimonious crap to the next Occupy meeting?

$7 million dollars out of your bank account is still $7million dollars out of your bank account minus your tax rate. Maybe it really "cost" her $3.5 million but it's still $7 million that went to the charity.

Maybe you took Accounting 101 from Kramer

I don't know if that's possible. I secretly hope the rumors about Jay-Z stepping out on her ( ) are true.
