60 years later little has changed

A few years ago I did a thread on the mob that spit on John Lewis as he walked into the capitol. That mob looked so much like the mob that showed up at Little Rock and Tuscaloosa back in the 50s and 60s. Now they are back in Murietta and will no doubt be showing up wherever their demogoguing "leaders" tell them to show up.

Before that they were the KKK and the White Citizen Councils. Then in the 50s Daddy Koch's John Birch Society. The the Republican Party gave refuge for those scoundrels in order to win the presidency. Now they are tea partiers being played to by Republics and the mass media.

The vast majority of this country is better than this. Once upon a time the media called out the ugliness of such demonstrations. Now it's "controversy."

In between we have seen these mobs at busing protests, Obamacare "rallies" and who can remember where. Always ready to do the bidding of the Becks and the Limbaughs and once upon a time the Father Coughlins and George Wallaces and Ross Barnetts of the world.

But the level of hate and ignorance is still there.

going to school, busing, even some aimed at atheist kids standing up against forced religion.
They are equal opportunity haters.
Remember Ruby Bridges who went to elementary school in New Orleans?
