General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsTater is taunting me now:
The sticky tape on the top doesn't work.
She has gotten used to the taste of 'Fooey.'
The cardboard extension was just another challenge to be defeated.
Water flicks bring a look of complete disdain and she grooms herself until the water is dealt with.
Working on plan Z.
Suggestions?
Moonpie is just a spectator.
Edit to add: I am ignoring her.

(17,111 posts)I don't know what she wants otherwise. She has everything else I can think of.
Maybe she wants the entire bed to herself.

(39,961 posts)LOL. Mine took my favorite chair over. And in the end, after removing her blanket from it for the millionth time the second I got out of it, I surrendered. She would literally lay in wait for me to get up, grab her blanket, drag it into the chair and then camp out.
I gave up. It's HER chair now. LOL
WhiteTara
(29,704 posts)and I'm losing that battle too. Nail clipping is helping, but what a determined cat!
Aerows
(39,961 posts)But she decided that chair was hers and that she was going to have it. She dragged her dang blanket into it all of the time.
WhiteTara
(29,704 posts)much better than his scratching post!
But you have to give your kittie kudos because she drags her blanket around!

(47,953 posts)Use some of that dashboard cleanup spray that leaves a slippery residue?
Short of that, putting a shelf up just above the tv that the kitten can sit on might be your only hope.

(34,373 posts)I feel for you. My Otis has taken to sitting on top of my 16 gallon BiOrb round aquarium. That would be OK except the top houses the controls for the 24 hour light cycle which he constantly re-sets with his butt. I wake up at 3 am and it is lit up in all its noontime glory, lol. I've tried putting books, cardboard, etc., but it gets too hot.
Cats rule us. I am afraid I have no good suggestions!

(23,156 posts)I know from experience it will keep a cat from scratching on things. Walls and furniture look odd for a while but then you get used to it, I mean you can take the foil down once they've learned there's no point in scratching there.

(26,109 posts)If not, use industrial strength Velcro under the base of the TV to anchor it?
She does look sweet, though.

(17,111 posts)It is an old family nickname. Notice the lack of 'guy' at the end.
She won't be looking for any chunnels off the NC shore either.
taterguy
(29,582 posts)There's only one Chunnel, the one that's under the English Channel.
Just thought I'd save your cat some time.

(111,245 posts)You can treat yourself to a bag of oranges and arrange the peels on top of the TV, new peels every day. The house will smell great and the cat will be offended.
Let Tater smell a fresh orange peel. 99% of cats are mortally offended.
A shelf over the TV is also good since it will warm up when the TV is on, the main attractant to a cat. Or you can leave an old laptop plugged in and on as a decoy away from the TV.
ETA: I told you a cat with tortietude was going to be trouble. They're always wild women.
Are_grits_groceries
(17,111 posts)However, I have nightmares about part of the whole wall coming down when she figures out a way to thwart that. Hanging by her nails off the top of the tv is not out of the question.
Ignoring her seems to be having an effect. For now. Maybe. Hopefully.
I love the tortietude. Moonpie has it too. She is just sneakier with it.

have you tried a BB gun? Have good aim, you wouldn't want to damage the screen.

(26,259 posts)I don't believe there is anything that can be done about 'tortitude'. My Boudicca is a Tortie and my life became much easier when I surrendered to that particular trait.

How about a squirt gun? Did I miss that one?
P.S. Sneakily, do this when pretending to ignore her but do it as soon as she starts this stuff. Repeat as necessary. Re-load
Good luck
