Would it have been better if the Bush, Kennedy, McCain immigration bill had been passed in 2007?

Remember that bill was about to pass but radio talk show hosts and RW pundits killed it with their demagogy.

There was also softer opposition on the Left from labor unions who worried that the bill was just a cheap labor exploitation and Hispanic groups who thought the bill didn't go far enough.

Try coming up with a bipartisan immigration bill today. It would be impossible. Louisiana1976 Jul 2014 #1

under a Congress controlled by Democrats, it would've been SO disastrous for Democrats in Congress AND candidate Obama. And who would've been running in 2008 instead under the Republican ticket if the 2007 CIR passed? Huckabee?
