Over the last 40 years we have experienced a frightening and destructive concentration of wealth and power. Mergers and acquisitions of companies in a Geometric manner have created huge Monopolistic Mega Corporations that have eliminated the concept of actual competition and opportunity, decimated the power of the working classes and consumers, and created a totally corrupt and ineffective political system and government.
Most of our economic, environmental and social problems can be traced back to this in one way or another.
It's easy to look back at things like Too Big to Fail banks, and awful corporate media and other problems and say "Gosh, maybe allowing this concentration of power wasn't such a good idea."
But Noooooooooo. It's worse than ever, and will get even worse. In all industries we are seeing giant companies merging.
Comast's takeover of NBC, and their current attempt to take over Time Warner Cable is one high-profile example. Now it appears that Rupert Murdoch -- who already has far too much power, is looking to take over the programming operations of the other Time Warner. ...Two of the major tobacco companies are also planning to merge.....And it goes on and on.
And yet, this core issue is totally missing from the agenda of government, and the political discourse. The Democratic Party is just as guilty of the Republicans on this front.
It is time we said "Enough is Enough."
We have to wake up, and start forcing this into the public debate. And we have to start pressuring the strategists and politicians who lead the Democratic Part to start standing up for the interests of the majority -- which also includes an economic system that actually does foster free enterprise and competition nd opportunity -- by enforcing and passing Anti-Trust, Anti Monopoly policies.
