More than 1,000 fast-food worker activists from around the country will gather in Chicago July 25th & 26th for their first-ever convention. SEIU President Mary Kay Henry, U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison and the Rev. Dr. William Barber II will speak at the convention. The fast-food worker movement began in New York in 2012 when a couple of hundred workers walked off their jobs demanding higher wages and the right to form unions. The campaign has since spread around the country and around the world.

our manufacturing jobs are mostly gone - replaced by service (food, retail etc). These are jobs in which workers need to organize if they have any hope of a future. Really good to see these activists gathering.
