rebel who fired missile at downed airlplane: "i was just cleaning my rocket launcher"

ukraissia -- the soldier who allegedly fired the surface-to-air missile that downed the ill-fated malaysian air flight 17 claims that he was just cleaning his rocket launcher when it accidentally discharged, according to a knowledgeable rebel who spoke with us on condition of anonymity.

"i must have cleaned it a hundred times without any problem, but this time, i don't know why, it just went off. i swear i didn't even know it was loaded" the mortified rebel is reported to have said. "i feel just awful about it. now i have to clean it all over again. not to mention ask for replacement rockets. so much paperwork."

according to his immediate superior, the rebel will be taking a week of administrative leave before returning to active duty as part of the rocket launching team. "i'm just glad he hit something," he said. "missing completely, well, that's just a huge embarrassment."

This is a sad development in the world arms race. Someday we may hear, "We were cleaning our nuke, and it just went off."

People shoot down airplanes.

Just applying NRA logic to this act of terrorism.

but the back-discussion is whether it was the Ukrainians, rebels, or Russia.

With a side-branch in the corner discussing whether it was appropriate to give the rebels this equipment. Even inveterate "guns don't shoot people, people shoot people" make an exception when you hand a 4-year-old a loaded gun and then tell him, "You see Johnny over there--play cowboys and indians, and you're the cowboy. Aim at him and shoot!"

Otherwise what you'd get is a search for the missile system so that it could be put on trial and, if found guilty, being either locked up until it's circuitry failed or "executed". Which, I guess, is what pepole who think that "guns kill people" think we should do with the guns. JFK wasn't killed by a person, just find the weapon that killed him and lock it up until it rusts. Justice served.

(I like it when things reduce to an absurdity.)

2-5 to leave this shitty joke made on the backs of hundreds of dead and their friends and families.

Very nice.

I agree with the view you are expressing with this satirical writing.

I just do not think this was the best way to go about it. It came across to me as very insensitive to those who just perished and those who loved them.

But, I will use this post as a chance to say (again)

Ban all Guns!!!
