Ted Cruz bares fangs at ‘misogynist’ True Blood episode mocking him

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Tuesday attacked the HBO vampire series True Blood — calling it “misogynist and profanity-ridden” — after the show featured him on Sunday’s episode.

“Of all the places I never thought to be mentioned, HBO’s True Blood vampire show would have to be near the top of the list. Sunday night, they aired a misogynist and profanity-ridden episode where Texas Republicans are murdered attending a ‘Ted Cruz fundraiser,’” he wrote on his Facebook page.

“Well, I’m sorry to have lost the vampire vote, but am astonished (and amused) that HBO is suggesting that hard-core leftists are blood-sucking fiends,” the Texas Republican said.

In the episode, characters Eric Northman and Pam De Beaufort dress up in stereotypical Texan Republican trappings to infiltrate a Cruz fundraising event in Dallas . Once she arrives at the gala, Pam adds: “Of all the horrible things I’ve seen over the last 100 years, this could be the most disturbing.”

All Cruz (Asshat-TX) did by acknowledging the True Blood episode is ensure it will get seen by many, many more people than if he'd kept his yap shut. Of course, Cruz keeping his yap shut is no more likely than finding real vampires.

I've always thought this was subliminal programming of the people in coming to subconsciously accept corporate domination sucking the life blood from the people, living in perpetuity and having immense power.

The fan base becomes conditioned to admire vampires as protagonists if not heroes of multiple vampire programs.

In this case the program directly slurs women in general and particularly feminists; that being among the strongest bases of the Democratic Party while turning Republicans into victims.

My 24 year old daughter is a fan of some of the zombie genre but she stridently critiques True Blood's misty reminiscence of a pre-feminist united states.

for what they are.

Some people believe propaganda only occurs during the "news" or talk shows but it's also most powerful with regular T.V. programming shows, movies and even commercials.

We had a thread here on D.U. not too long ago regarding the increased cruelty of our society but television is rampant with examples highlighting cruelty in one form or another and I'm convinced there is a cause and effect.

Lumley always disliked how Vampires are romanticized in nearly all literature and media and considered the fictitious creature to be a parasite, so he asks the question, "would you romanticize a tick or a leach?"

Incredible novels ensued.
