Some good news about Meet the Press formally called Meet the Republicans

David Gregory’s time is nearly up at “Meet the Press,” sources told Page Six, and he could be replaced as moderator of the nation’s longest-running TV show soon after the November midterm elections.

While NBC News President Deborah Turness has publicly supported the embattled Gregory, there are serious concerns about the losing battle to turn around the show’s sinking ratings.

Viewership is down a whopping 43 percent compared to when Gregory ascended to the moderator’s chair in December 2008, after the death of Tim Russert. The show finished in third place behind CBS’s “Face the Nation” and ABC’s “This Week” in the second quarter of 2014.

An NBC source said, “The discussion is whether to make a change before or after the midterm elections. Just after the midterms would give the new moderator time to settle in.”

can provide stability for the PTB who want us Dems to lose big time. But, given his poor ratings and the disgust with many with the Republicans it might backfire. He just will lose more ratings because folks are sick of seeing John McCain, Cheney and the rest of that crowd over and over and over on that show.

to admit that David Gregory has been, is, and will continue to be a big fucking flop?

"The New York Times‘ Mark Leibovich famously described Gregory in his 2013 book This Town as “overly ambitious, excessively full of himself, and unworthy of ‘the (Meet the Press) chair.’"

That ongoing series has not helped ratings much either. With McCain's toxic overexposure and predictable whining at every turn, Gregory can share some of the "credit" for the -43% showing.

The quality of the show's content will continue to fail, because after all, it's news and discussion brought to you by Comcast. Funny how content isn't even mentioned in the article.

They tested Chuck Todd with test audiences and the results suggested he was liked even less than Gregory - yet he'll be the new moderator, won't he? Or Joe and Mika, their agent was pushing them.

MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” team of Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski have also been said to be angling for a Sunday slot, but NBC insiders said there are concerns about putting a partisan host in charge of “Meet the Press,” as Scarborough is a former Republican congressman.

Yet they put in David Greggory and are now considering Chuck Todd? Maybe if they stop treating their viewers as if they're as dumb as a box of rocks they'd rise in the ratings? Give us something new, something cutting edge, not more of the same crap they used to beat the crap out of in ratings on the other networks. Beat up the politicians when they're wrong. Eviscerate them in the name of truth and democracy! Don't simper and kowtow to their every whim for fear of alienating a potential "source." They keep lowering the bar and expecting us to enjoy it. Then they get upset when it doesn't draw in new viewers. How dense are these people?

ratings are of secondary importance to them, toting Corporate/Republican power is the prime directive.

of the network. If ratings were the concern, Gregory would have been told what to change to increase them by now. And, of course, he would have done so if his bosses wanted him to. It's not like networks don't have access to public relations professionals, etc. What a joke.

to let Chuck Todd be the host? They think people will want to watch him? Rachel Maddow is watchable, Glenn Beck is watchable (I'm not suggesting him, merely listing watchable and interesting people,) Billy Bob Thornton is watchable... Chuck Todd is a dull, dull ass and everyone knows it - except NBC, apparently.

...has a variety of guests on that balance the political spectrum, doesn't allow the GOP and RWers to hog the airtime, and bears in mind that the GOP is not the "default party" at all times with the Dems just waiting in the wings even when the President is a Dem.

Rachel's changed, but she can really pull herself together for a gig like this. She has a doctorate in political science, for gods' sake. Chris has been doing very well with "All In."

If I never see McCain on Sunday again I will be very happy. If they just pull a clone of David Gregory out of their hats I will continue to refuse to watch MTP -- it's been all Republicans all the time, talking over other guests, with Gregory not ever actually doing the job of a moderator.
