Tea Party town hall erupts as Texas state Rep urges ‘compassion’ for migrant kids

Thank faux for all the hate and misinformation here (imo). Their reactions are repulsive (imo).
I wonder what Simpson thinks of his party now?

Tea Party town hall erupts as Texas state Rep urges ‘compassion’ for migrant kids
By David Ferguson
Wednesday, July 23, 2014 18:47 EDT

A town hall meeting held by Texas Tea Party state Rep. David Simpson (R) on Wednesday got heated as Simpson’s constituents railed at him for not doing more to stop the influx of unaccompanied, undocumented minors coming to the United States from Central and South America.

The Longview, Texas News-Journal reported that the conservative attendees expressed health concerns, religious fears and doubts about Simpson’s commitment to putting his “constituents first.”

Simpson attempted to tell the crowd of about 160 residents that the thousands of children arriving at the Mexico-U.S. border are fleeing lives of violence and abuse, including gangsters who specialize in trafficking children as sex slaves. Texans should treat the children with compassion, he said, a notion that his audience summarily rejected.

After Simpson’s slide show of the faces of some of the border children, Longview resident Terri Hill said, “I believe your constituents should come first when you talk about people who are impacted. You are to represent us, and we have children. These {migrant children} are people that are coming in with leprosy, tuberculosis, polio.”

Another resident, Ben Denson, expressed fear that the children could be disease-carriers.

“I’ve got four kids and a fifth one on the way,” Denson said. “These {Central American} kids have scabies and influenza, viral pneumonia, leprosy. These kids are going to be part of the school system…They are bleeding Texas {Democrat} blue.”

Other residents fear that the children are already criminals in their hearts.

“We need our borders protected. We need a lot of things, but what we don’t need is more people at the trough,” said Thomas Rolland to Simpson. “These people are not coming in with a good, Christian heart. Most of them are criminals, anyway.”

Simpson protested, “These children are fodder in this. They are being assaulted.”

The gang wars and turmoil they are fleeing, he said, are not the children’s fault.

“I don’t believe in amnesty,” he assured the crowd. “I don’t believe in treating people who’ve crossed the border as a murderer…I do think there should be a path, a legal path, for naturalization or citizenship. We’re a nation of immigrants.”

The fact that most of them vote against their own best interests and support policies that will not benefit them is part of what's wrecking this country. Christians my ass. America's grass-roots Conservatives are just a bunch of hysterical little Juror#10s from "12 Angry Men".

Juror # 10 Description:
"An angry, bitter man. a man who antagonizes almost at sight.
A bigot who places no values on any human life save his own.
A man who has been nowhere and is going nowhere
and knows it deep within him."

who was spreading the scabies crap. I don't remember who he was, but I was thinking his statement of this tactic would not go over well for those children. Surprise, surprise these "people" believe this crap.

I have never listened to IN-Sannity, but I was carpooling with someone and they were listening to him. I was somewhat disappointed in my car-mate and asked him if he was a republican, he told me he didn't belong to either party and he was only listening to Sean to hear what the "people" had to say. Most of the "people" calling were parroting the exact same talking points over and over again.

Give the nation a fish that has been polluted they become poisonous thinkers. Teach a nation to fish they too become poisonous with their own polluted thoughts and actions.

This has become a poisonous nation of non-thinkers. Especially when most of these "people" quite thinking for themselves a long time ago.

I hope Rep. Simpson has some serious soul searching to overcome the hate spewed rhetoric his ilk has been promoting for decades. I certainly hope it isn't too little too late.

5 The vile person shall be no more called liberal, nor the churl said to be bountiful.

6 For the vile person will speak villany, and his heart will work iniquity, to practise hypocrisy, and to utter error against the Lord, to make empty the soul of the hungry, and he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.

7 The instruments also of the churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right.

8 But the liberal deviseth liberal things; and by liberal things shall he stand.

A particular student refused to give up her idea that Washington DC is located in Washington state. I showed her on a map. W/o blinking an eye she just said, "The map's wrong."

Brain dead. And her parents were paying for her 'education'. I don't know if she graduated, but plenty of other people that dumb do.

Where I retired in the remote reaches of the Midwest, there's a friend here who never did well in school for a variety of medical and social reasons, but I swear she has more sense than most people I've ever met. When she doesn't understand something going on in politics, she asks me and always understands the answer immediately. She didn't like the GOP before I moved here - Pete Peterson's her uncle - but she really hates 'em now. I tell her the truth, that she's smarter than most people I've met. And it's the gospel truth. When you count the things that were stacked against her in life, she's almost brilliant. I have nothing but the utmost respect for her. Understandably she doesn't want to register Democrat because around here that can cause horrific problems and her husband would likely get fired, and she already has enough to deal with. But she votes for us, and she's willing to be seen in my company. That's more than can be said for most of these alleged Christians.

So nobody gets to tell me that Democratic principles are too hard for the TP types to grasp. They're 100% fully responsible for the evil they do.

When one person hates another for the color of his skin, the way he worships or because he doesn't worship at all, his or her gender, because he prefers to sleep in the embrace of one of his own gender, or the language he speaks, then that person is not a conservative but a bigot. The do not deserve to be associated with honorable men with whom many of us may have disagreed sharply but respected, men like Barry Goldwater or William Buckley.

What kind of person would dehumanize a child? The same kind of person who would smash the windows of Jewish businesses on the direction of Dr. Goebbels, a person who's idea of relaxing day off is to go to the Coliseum to watch gladiators kill each other, the kind of person who would close a public swimming pool before allowing black children to swim in it, the kind of person who would bomb a Sunday school.

It's hard enough to call such people human.

Don't take it too hard that I must add that I for one DON'T respect Goldwater and Buckley at all. The only way they differed from most bigots was the size of their brains. And yet they prostituted that gift to the service of evil. Goldwater wanted WWIII like McCain today, and Buckley was known to praise Hitler. I heard him say those things myself.

you remember where you found it, or is it yours? I'd like to share but it won't transpose from a photobucket account, I guess.

It was posted just before the shoot down of the plane over Ukraine. I went back 20 pages or so, and didn't find it.

Can you just right click on it and save the pic and upload it to photobucket? That's what's what I did. I'm pretty sure the one I copied it from was also from photobucket.

America had better begin taking a long hard look at how it we want history to remember us. Will we be the Nazi Germany of the 21st Century, run by hateful, racist bigots and losers or will we go down in history as the most compassionate, free and open society in the history of mankind? It's up to us. Right now we are looking pretty Nazi with the Conservative Republican Party demanding that the rest of us be petty, racist, homophobic, greedy, uncaring, cold hearted, assholes like they are. Reasonable people don't demand the punishment of children for something the children can't do anything about. Only animals would do that.

All we need to do is look at the actual definition for those words. To be conservative means to conserve. To be Christian means to be (or strive to be) Christ-like. Neither of those words could properly apply to these assholes.

The argument is that... we should reject these people because they are sick? Okay, because Jesus did that with sick people, right? I mean, he just told them they were all foreign scum, criminals and such, and told them to get the fuck out of his sight. Hmm. Wait. No he didn't.

So we should reject them because they are criminals? Watch the news, Tea Party fuckwits. Examine our politicians, our media, our corporation, with some kind of critical thinking. You will discover that we have many, many criminals in this Nation that we not only applaud, but regularly vote for and enable.

What the fuck is wrong with these assholes? Plenty of Americans are sick, plenty of Americans are criminals - this is not a reason, a justification, an excuse for rejecting compassion and sanctuary to the suffering, the sick, and the poor.

This one, in particular, is so fucking moronic that it makes me shudder:

“We need our borders protected. We need a lot of things, but what we don’t need is more people at the trough,” said Thomas Rolland to Simpson. “These people are not coming in with a good, Christian heart. Most of them are criminals, anyway.”

What exactly does Rolland think is a good Christian heart? Is it a good Christian heart that denies aid to suffering families and children? Is it a good Christian heart that suggests people are criminals simply because they are desperate? Is it a good Christian heart that utterly rejects any notion of decency, compassion, or mercy? What exactly does this asshole think a "good Christian heart" is?

Insanity... and it's a republican arguing for compassion! A republican, of all people.... and he's just not conservative enough, not batshit crazy enough, not enough of an asshole, apparently, for these other assholes to pay any attention to.

Enough is enough. My vote is that we deport the tea party. Surely we can find them an uninhabited island somewhere where they can practice their true religion of the worship of money, cruelty, ignorance and stupidity. There they could build whatever churches they liked, implement whatever stupid, shitty, fucking idiotic ideas they think are good. The rest of the world can happily continue on in ignorance of them.

I love Christians - I love REAL Christians. These fucking assholes aren't Christian, they aren't even republicans. I'm not even convinced they're human. Fuck them all.

Reading a history of the Hapsburg Empire, and I keep coming across the word 'conservative' -- which, to historians, is a descriptive term associated with monarchic anti-democratic, pro-serfdom, cruelty-embracing, torture-obsessed anti-Semites.

Still with us. Fading in power, and someday to be just -- history.

Children are facing violence, possible enslavement.

Main concern: they are going to turn Texas into a blue state.

Maybe the kids should start crossing the border as embryos. Then they'd get some bagger tears.

When I read crap like this, I think: Ye shall know them by their fruits. Are their hearts so hardened by selfishness and greed that they have forgotten that children's hearts are pure, and that the children arriving alone, without their parents need their love and compassion as much as food and water? There is no sin greater than hardness of heart.

made me think of the Crusades starting in the 11th century. The crusaders convinced themselves that killing non catholic Christians was okay and sanctioned by god. So in the end they killed Muslims, Jews and Eastern Orthodox Christians. In this case it's reversed and racial. They don't count those of a certain ethnic group as real Christians plus they seem to not tolerate Catholics. This means they could care less about these kids or anyone else that does not fit their narrow description of Christians or even human beings.
