It says a bit about who she was at her core...in her heart.....She joined DU in 2002. One of our Legacy Posters...that many of us were here with for years. If folks want to click it it's nice...and the posters who replied built on her post. Given "Our Times" and DU's "Changes with the Times" it might be hard to understand why some early DU'ers need some Memory Tributes. I guess you'd have to have been here when Supreme Court gave Bush the Election to understand..and then on to "9/11" and beyond.
It's so sad to lose any "DU'er"...but, to lose one that some of us have been here with for over a Decade...well...its really tough:
And wishes for her sweet soul..going forward.

I'd like to write something more poignant, but I need to absorb her loss, which comes as quite a shock. Thank you for letting us know, KoKo.

(84,711 posts)I didn't know her personally...but we were ships sailing through the dark days and nights of 2000's here...so she was a fellow DU'er...I knew from her posts here and liked and respected as I think from the responses, did others, who were here all that time.
The OP who posted of her death, didn't seem to know what she died of ...and one person on the OP replies said "Raindog" had not been feeling well lately, but, another said she was filled with all kinds of positive things for the future. But, no one said they knew of any life threatening illness with her that she'd talked about.
Her last two posts seem to say she was a bit depressed (but who isn't with the news these days)...So.. I wouldn't know what really happened.
Whatever....she is at peace now...and she was around here since 2002...and went through all the stressing times many of us did (Bush Selection by Supreme court and the Iraq Invasion and the crap years after) and was a good contributor to DU. It's so sad to lose her...(whatever the reason) and we can only give her the and hope that wherever she is....she will hear or know that there were folks out here who will miss her and that she will be remembered. I think she would have loved to know that wherever she is.

(15,021 posts)after sometimes years-worth of absences, since I pretty much checked out of here in 2008 or so as a regular poster.
She was a tireless advocate of decriminalization of marijuana and stood up to the bullies that hounded her both on that topic and others that were hot button issues here and I admired the hell out of her for doing that, despite the attacks she got in return.
She was a wonderful human being and this board (as the wordld itself) is much, much poorer for her not being here anymore.

The blog post mentioned that if she had proper medical care, she might have lived.

(84,711 posts)Not such good times these days....it's understandable whether it was through illness or or just coping with our current world and local events which can be overwhelming on top of whatever one is dealing with personally. Not easy to find balance sometimes...or to get a break.

(6,199 posts)whose names we don't even know and who are hundreds or thousands of miles away. RainDog had an intelligence and passion that shone through the black-and-white text, and I always enjoyed seeing her posting and reading her POV. I have no doubt that she shone just as brightly in the real world, and my heart goes out to her family and those close to her.
This is a very sad loss. RIP.

(18,318 posts)and made many and regular posts on the issue. Her info was thorough, credible, and useful. The most important message I took from her: We are all patients eventually. I wish I could have met her. Pot activists are a fairly tight fraternal and maternal order. May the river be calm and the moon bright on your trip across.
