Poor ol' Ted probably never had a clue that he was pissing in his own lunchbox by making those racist comments.

Ted's Facebook letter to Prez Obama:

Ted Nugent
July 19 at 11:47am ·

Thanx alot US government numbnuts. We went from the last best place to the dumbest fkn idiots on planet earth. How else can you xplain that we are the ONLY country in the world that has abandoned the very foundation of what makes a country a country. Obama you dumb mthrfkr you!
Dear Mr. Obama, Senate and Congress:

I'm planning to move my family and extended family into Mexico for my health, and I would like to ask you to assist me.

We're planning to simply walk across the border from the U.S. into Mexico, and we'll need your help to make a few arrangements.

Do you see how stupid this looks when you put it in writing??

These are very rough figures... theres a lot of variables... does he promote his own shows, or book through a promoter? Size of venues and what market will bear for ticket prices? Tour bus a Road crew? Tour bus and driver? Road crew? etc. I do a bit of work in the business, so I can make some rough estimates for an "average" show, but keep in mind they're very rough.

Ticket sales - $20,000. Venue might get approx 25%, about 25% between booking and promoting agents. Nugent gets about $10K
Merchandise sales - $10,000. About half is typically CDs, half T-shirts and other stuff. Nugent might get about 20% of CD sales at best... rest goes to his label. Nugent gets $1000. T-shirts, Nugent gets all of proceeds, subtracting cost he gets about $2500. Other costs - he might pay his band in the neighborhood of $1000-2000, lets call it $1500. Merchandise guy, sound guy, 1 roadie - lets say $600. Bus and driver - this could vary wildly, but lets say $2000/day.
Totals - The whole show grosses about $30,000, venue keeps $5000, booking/promoter keeps $5000. Nugent's record label gets $4000. T-shirts, etc costs $2500. Band costs $1500, road crew costs $600, bus/driver $2000, and lets say $600/ day for hotel/food. Total costs - about $21,200. Nugent makes a bit under $10K/ show. If show is cancelled, he not only doesn't make the $10K, he still incurs some of the tour costs. The boycotts do cost him money.

As an aside, the small bands that tour... theres no bus, theres an old van and trailer. Road crew is one guy who drives, helps load in, handles merch, helps load out. Band does good to get $1000 in tickets and $500 in CDs/merch... often less, much less. Sometimes not enough for gas to the next show. Food is McD's, truck stop, 7-11, etc. Hotels are pretty much out of the question. Tough way to make a living.

Thats just to feed his ego, and to keep in the news. Otherwise, he'd be a forgotten has-been. As a wild guess, he makes about $1M/yr touring, assuming 100 shows. Releasing a new album, he might do 200 shows that year in support. Probably another $200K in CD/merch sales not from touring, and $200K in songwriting royalties from his crappy songs. Probably very little on books and TV guest appearences.

I'd trade 1 billion Ted Nugents for just 1 Tom Petty. He was a so-so guitar player who rode on the backs of a number of other talented performers. Like most conservatives and the religions they cling to, he sees nothing wrong with racism, bigotry, murdering animals and molesting underaged girls, so he is a perfect fit for both of these institutions that need to be completely obliterated before the human race can move forward.

at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium. I bought tickets to the afternoon and evening shows. The first act was the Irish rock group Eire Apparent, followed by the Amboy Dukes (led by Nugent), The Soft Machine, the Vanilla Fudge, and finally Mr. Hendrix. When I first heard Ted Nugent play, churning out clean but unimaginative licks on his Gibson Byrdland hollowbody, I thought to myself "not bad, not bad". Then I heard the sizzling guitar playing of Vinny Martelluccci of the Vanilla Fudge, especially that cool arabesque sounding intro to "You Keep Me Hangin' On" and of course the rafters-melting chops of Jimi Hendrix on blues like Red House and tunes like "Can You See Me?" and Nugent became a distant memory. Nugent wasn't even the second best guitarist on that stage and was blown off the stage by Hendrix. Ted Nugent and the Amboy Dukes for some reason didn't even show up for the second show in the evening.

I knew Charlie when he had a group called Tanglewood in Grand Rapids Mi. We played on the same circuit. Ted had been cruising clubs for new band members (which he was always needing because no one could stand him) and hired Charlie. The bullshit story was that Charlie got fired for drinking. Teds mom was an alcoholic so I guess Ted has an attitude about it. Every musician that has ever worked with or for Ted says the same thing ...Ted is an arrogant asshole. Thing is ...Ted doesn't need to work. He invested in index funds way back when he first got going with the Amboy Dukes. My long time friend sold Ted property in upper lower Michigan where he stocked his own game for hunting. Unless he blew his money and needs these jobs I doubt he will be hurt by the cancellations. If there are contracts then someone is going to pay. I hope the worst for Ted because he deserves it.

Instead, he inserted his foot deeply into his own mouth and started his typical hateful right wing racist babbling. The original and the next cancellations are his own doing and he had it coming.
